Here's my 9.0 story: Mine arived late Friday and I've had the chance to fiddle with it in my living room and at church Sunday. Details: I'm using it to power a Bergantino HS210 cab @ 8 ohms. Bass is a Sadowsky 5 PJ.
First Impressions:
Right out of the box is about where I've left it...with a bit of a goose on the bass freq. Really sounds great with the Bergantino HS210 at low levels. Had to fuss with it a bit to get a truly clean tone, however...in my room I heard some mild distortion from the HS210 drivers at higher volume levels and lower notes (especially around low F# and G...curiously better once I got down to the B string).
One thing I've noticed (after isolating rattles, hums and buzzes that were part of the room) is that a bit of compression before this amp really helps sharpen up a clean tone.
Current settings:
I have the Preamp Gain at about 10:00, Volume around 2:00 and Master volume around 2:00. With a straight line-in, I still get some breakup in what I would have hoped to have been a pretty much "clean" tone based on the settings and recommendations from the manual. Running through my Diamond Bass Compressor did the trick...focused the tone significantly to result in a very clean, punchy sound with no real breakup. Finally - the sound I was after!
Other Suggestions?
I'm liking what I hear now. Other suggestions for dialing in a loud, clean tone wth this amp/cab combination?
Thanks!!
