Genz Benz Streamliner, Part 10

I have my first gig with my STL 900 tonight! I'll be running my Schroeder 212PL and 15PL.. i can't wake to shake some walls down (and get some booty shakin too ;) ) So stoked!

I had a out of town gig about a month ago, nice gig at the Rainbow Casino (NV/Utah stateline). I took my Streamliner 900 with no backup, I've been using Genz Benz stuff for years and never had a single problem. Anyway, the second night on the third set I turned it on and nada, no output but all the lights were on... Long story short I had to play the remaining 4 nights plugged straight to the Mixer! When I got home I replaced all 3 tubes and the fuse but no luck, since I bought it used and had no paperwork I thought I was out of luck. Last Monday I started searching and read great things about TB'er agedhorse and GBs customer service so I sent him a PM, he replied right away and asked for pics, he said "OK, send it in". I packed it up last Tuesday and sent it via FedEx, yesterday I got an email from Andy saying he got it early in the morning, fixed it, tested it and sent it back, plus everything was covered under warranty, I just got it and the thing is as good as new.

I've never experience such great customer service in my life, thank you Andy!

I bet you loved it!
My main amp is the Streamliner 900 and I use it with several Schroeder cabs. If you're gonna stack them just make sure your 212PL is 8 ohms, mine is 4 ohms! My 410/115/210PL are 8 ohms, I love camo finish :D

Thats what i'm talking about! Yea, both cabs are 8 ohm. here's a couple crappy pics from last night... I had no real monitor mix, although people told me it sounded fantastic FOH. I've read the DI sounds great, i just couldn't tell from where i was standing. I kept feeling like i needed more highs, but that may have been the dead strings... I'm still early in the learning stages of using this amp.

Not yet, but I would imagine that they'd pair up quite nicely... For the last 2 weekends, I've gigged my Streamliner 900 thru a PH215, and it worked really well... I've also gigged it with an old RR115 in a blues band, and that worked well, too... I will say that it doesn't do that well with an old PH1000 - but they're a bit of a muddy sounding cab, IMO/IME... The ShuttleMax 12.0 works better with the PH1000...

I got my Uber 115 a couple weeks ago-Svtb15 highly recommended it and ill now second that its a really nice sounding cab.It may be all you need- so far I haven't needed more volume and its plenty punchy. I'm thinking you'll love it.

Hi Brian.. Oh yes .. I love the Uber 115...Did few outdoor gigs this week with our mutual friends DR....I used two Uber 115s.. But can easily get away with one 90% f the time.

I see the Mesa 115 up top and ill know those single 115s can mutilate a room in a good way too...


But the Uber 115 is pretty balanced sounding 115.. Has plenty of bloom yet is tight...
The SL900 works well with them. If i think i need a little more control i use the SM9.2..

Cool-How are the DR boys?? Good dudes!!Tell Dave hi next time-He's a character!

The Uber 115 is great and I agree very balanced-though there is a noticeable difference where I set my overall volume on my SL900 as the 115 is 8ohm. But it is so full and round yet punchy- works great for me. I bet 2 is devastating!!

I had an odd experience this weekend, played an outdoor gig this weekend (under a tent) it was about 40 degrees out. after setting up, I turned on the head and after the warm-up light went off, I had almost no sound. I could hear something if i cranked the master and held my head to the cab, but not loud enough to play. the mute was off and my gain was at about 2 and input vol around 11 or 12. I switched off, checked all my connections, turned it on and still got almost nothing. I took a deep breath to calm down (I didnt have a backup amp), waited about 10-20 seconds, turned the input vol to 1 or 2, and all my volume came back. I think maybe the tubes didn't have time to warm up enough during the pre-set warming cycle.
Anyone else experience this in cold weather? The amp performed flawlessly for the whole 3 hour show, sounded great, sound man took the di from the back of the amp and the house sound was awesome.

It's possible that there was some condensation on the effects return jack's internal normalling switch. Try cycling the jack a couple of times with a plug. Just a hunch.
