I had some neo experience early on that made me think - I don't like neos,, but I've since had some really, really great sounding neo cabs. Currently that's all I have. I think it's more about a bunch of factors that make a cab work or not, more than it's about the magnet material.
I played an Aguilar DB212 for a good while. Great cab (but very heavy). I would guess that's a good pair with the STL. The NV412 is also a monster - but pretty different voice from the Aggies. Never played any Epifani gear, but I know some guys who are big fans.
I think there's good gear out there that doesn't have to weigh a ton. It can just take a while to find what works for you sometimes. The STL 900 is scratching that itch for me right now giving me the sound I want that I was previously getting with some bigger / heavier amps.
