So I have been playing with this head for a few days. I have a question for my fellow Streamliner users. Does this head have a tendency to run warm. I was practicing with it using headphones for about an hour and when I went to turn it off, the fans were running and it was pretty warm to the touch. My previous amps (Eden WT300 and Genz Neopak) took some major pounding to get warm, but they didn't have 3 tubes. So is this normal?
Thanks, I was hoping you would chime in. Good to know it isn't a problem.Yes, the top surface will be warm. This is normal.
Thanks. My 600 warms up its beautiful aluminum chassis as it should. Not hot, but warm. Nice quiet fan. Love this amp, all the knobs are really useful.
Thanks, I must have missed that.I was about to say that agedhorse might chime in, and he beat me to it.
There was quite a bit of discussion on this thread (or one of the 10 parts of it) about how the amp should be fine to run for hours and hours with no problem. There was mention of guys leaving it on over night, and I think that was one of the QC tests that Genz-Benz did. Also some mentions of guys running the STL for hours in the hot sun on gigs with no problems.
with 10 parts, and well over 10K posts, easy to miss. Thanks, I must have missed that.
I bet that's a nice combo. Looks nice.View attachment 3467095 Recent convert since I picked up a 900 . Pairing it with a NV115 , sounds great .
Yep, I browsed through all 10 threads. I meant about running it for prolonged periods of time or being a little warm as not being a problem.with 10 parts, and well over 10K posts, easy to miss.
Oooh, that looks like a fun comparison!Been using mine for the last hour comparing and although the top is warn, it is still no big deal.

Such a great amplifier, after all these years holds up compared to all the new gear.

Same. I have mine on for at least 5 hours at shows. It sees action for around 3.5 to 4 of those hours. No issues ever.I've been steadily gigging my Streamliner 900 for 7 years now. Never had any trouble with it, ever. On gig nights it's probably on for 5 hours straight. I normally use my tuner as a mute in between sets so it just stays on. At most it feels warm, never has it been hot.
I now have two. Other than some mild lust for some all tube Ashdown amps (I’ve owned two LB-30s) I can honestly say that I am content! That says a lot, after trying many boutique amps of all types, over the last 20 years. I regularly get compliments on my sound from local bassists and other musicians. I give credit to the amp and cabs, not my playing. It was conceived to intentionally take a left turn in design when other amps/designs in the market (including our Shuttles) were taking a right. We weren't going for a "transparent" sound at all with the Streamliner. I knew the market was going right when we made this left turn so the market appeal was smaller than with other GB models. However, it kind of developed a cult following.
I always give thanks to the sound guy as well. I tell people without him we would sound like a garage band with awesome equipment. Lol. Makes the sound guys happy and they take care of us.I now have two. Other than some mild lust for some all tube Ashdown amps (I’ve owned two LB-30s) I can honestly say that I am content! We don’t have a sound guy. Cover bands around here bring their own PA and do their own sound.I always give thanks to the sound guy as well. I tell people without him we would sound like a garage band with awesome equipment. Lol. Makes the sound guys happy and they take care of us.![]()
