Genz Benz Streamliner; Part 4

As far as I can tell, the MB isn't going to be more versatile depending on what you need. The VLE does "warm/vintage" up thing but it doesn't sound like the S900. Similarly, if you want gain type tones you have way more flexibility with the S900 over the MB.

In addition, the LMTube 800 is very different from the LM2/3/tube.

Nostatic, when you had your foray with the RH450, did you also have the RS cabs? I still have a RS210 and RS112 and wonder how they will sound with the SL.

I didn't have the rs cabs. I was running Berg AE112 and AE210. I think the S900 would work though as the rs cabs are a little mid barky iirc.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have an RH450 and 3 RS210's and have been really intrigued by all this hype about the SL900. Subscribed!!!:D

So has anyone out there tried the Streamliner with any of the TC Electronic cabs???

To answer from the last thread.

The Eden is a great tone and will cop all the tones Tunaman listed. The Streamliner is a different thing all together and you'd not cop the Streamliner tone with any of those as well as vise versa. :bassist:

The Streamliner is smokey and the Shuttle 9.0 while warm is more modern and more clarity though compared to many others the Shuttle 9.0 is much warmer than most IMHO.

You missed one one adjective on the SL..:)
its Chewy! as well as oommphy:D

Looking forward to this. I will be doing some studio work with mine in the near future as well. You gonna use DI plus mic'd cab?

welllll....I almost always run my studio tracking the same way:

Signal 1:
Bass to a quality DI box (A designs REDDI in this case) and straight to the board.

Signal 2:
Hard bypass from the Tube DI to a signal splitter, one side of the splitter to my amp and DI out (post EQ) from the amp straight to the board.

Signal 3:
Other side of the splitter to a Sansamp RBI set pretty dirty, an DI out to the board

This way, I can mix in varying degrees of grit and overdrive per song without having to set up different rigs or change anything up during tracking... I have 3 different signals to mix down any way I want depending on the song...

However, I think this time I may do things differently, owing to the delicious grit available from the Streamliner... I think this session will probably go something like this:

Signal 1:
Bass to A-Designs Reddi

Signal 2:
Hard bypass from the DI box to the GB Streamliner, set to my normal stage tone, DI out (post EQ) from the Streamliner to the board

Signal 3:
A-Designs Reddi re-amped to the GB Uber 212.

We're probably gonna try a bunch of things. Stay Tuned!!

I caught the very end of the last thread so i'll throw up my last post.

for you who own one or have spent any time with one a couple questions...

1) play in an old school heavy rock band. Guitarists use real vintage marshalls and cabs not reissues, play vintage gibsons, real B3 player...ect ect....This is the reason I use Tube Ampeg through big Boogie or Ampeg cabs and Fender P basses (sometimes J) Also needing another T-bird. SO....would this amp fit the bill?

2) At 900 watts @ 4 ohms I assume this amp would sound killer through 2, 212 cabs but what will it do through a Mesa Powerhouse 1000 or an Ampeg 8x10?

3) is there or will there be a rack mount kit for the Streamliner 900??

"By the way... the Bass Player Mag Clips are AWESOME

"

Just for clarity... this demo has nothing to do with Bass Player Mag. The channel name is Bassguitarmag... a holdover from Guitar World's Bass Guitar magazine. That's who I worked for when I started the page 4 years ago. Now, it's mostly stuff I've done for GW, and some independent demos for BassWhispererTV.

If I could change the channel name, I would, and I'm sure Bass Guitar Mag in the UK would love that too. GW chose to use that name, but there already was a mag with that name in the UK. I had nothing to do with the name.... but I was Senior Editor for 2 years. So, anyone know how to change the channel name without deleting the channel and starting over? I have over 8,000 subscribers, I'd like to keep them!

I can answer Question 3- GB is finalizing the shelf rack (not rack ears)mounting kit design- that was 1-2 threads ago. He hasn't finalized pricing nor mentioned date of availability.
