Genz Benz Streamliner; Part 4

Wrt to question 1, IMO and IME, hell yes. I play in a band doing heavy, classic and alternative rock. The lead guitard plays a Genz El Diablo 100 watt tube head through a Marshall 412 slant cab, the rhythm guitar plays through a Blackstar 100 watt tube head and Blackstar 412. The drummer is a BIG heavy-handed dude who can play over the two guitards un-mic'd!

Another WRT question 1. That's the same type of music we play and the SL slices through with surgical precision with PLENTY of headroom to spare. It's like trying to hold a grenade with a loose pull pin.

Anybody have any thoughts on a pairing of a GK Neo III 115 as a very portable but gigable cab with my SL? On sale today for $382!! or should I get the LM 115 Transporter? I need under 40lbs, don't want a 210 or 212 or 112

I am about as giddy with the sound of this amp as with anything I've ever owned. That rare 'clean tube amp' tone that is round and warm and full, but still full range, bright if you want it to be, and with a beautiful treble extension (if you want it).

Don (LDS cabs) was over to check it out, and just kind of said 'whoa' when he heard it! He is all excited about hearing this head with both his sealed multi10 cabs, and also the 15/6 type builds he does. Hopefully we can get some clips up of those pairings down the road.

I originally bought this head to pair up with my recently acquired P Bass (a Nordy VP5 which is also a work of art IMO). I will be using this head in a MUCH wider range of gigs than I originally thought. I still have my beloved MB F500 for the more modern sort of tone, but the Streamliner will be an 'equal partner' (I'm sure much like those who are lucky enough to have a Shuttle and a Streamliner... different vibes that are both great in their own way).

Ken, Glad to hear! Now, hopefully, you can do a clip with a passive J ar just tell me your opinion. I know you kinda already told me what you thought but you didn't have the Streamliner anymore at that time. I have now raised the funds so I am really close to making a deal.
The goal is the tone I get from a '84 Walter Woods M100-8. It's difficult, at least for me, to describe. It's warm and round with a "blooming of the notes but with clarity. I can get it by cutting the Bass and treble knobs to 10:00, Mid flat, and both Bass and Treble switches on Boost. Walter thinks this kind of setting is on the edge of clipping the preamp section. That is why I can almost get a Tube kind of "Sag" out of it. Of course it doesn't have the power I need for a lot of gigs. Also, the power section must be involved because if I line out to a Shuttle 9.0 for power, it doesn't sound the same.
I realize, you and most others don't have this amp but you have experience with Walters' amps and just may know what I'm talking about. Thanks!
BTW, I'm probably going to buy one anyway but still researching

Just measured mine for you:

From the edge of the jacks on the back of the amp to the top of the knobs on the front of the amp 12"

Height, including feet 3 1/4"

Width 9 7/8"

With those dimensions, this one would not be a bad fit at all... Nice find MusicMan20!

GigSkinz-DGMS <--Quite Styling too!

Mixer compartment = 12.25" x 11.5" x 3.5"
Exterior Large Pocket: 7" x 10" 2"
Exterior Small Pocket: 4" x 10" 2"
Weight= 16 (I assume in ounces, not pounds - j/k)
Typical Street Price : ~$69.00

UPDATE - If you are interested in the GigSkinz, I found it for only $60 and free shipping...

GB's proposed solution: SMT600/900 bag

Last I heard was mid-February. I don't know if it has been released yet - they have bigger fish to fry at the moment... Maybe one of the GB guys will chime in on the production status of the GB bag.

Thats the one I have! Very nice bag...currently holds my LM3. Im guessing the SL900 should just fit in!

Very Cool, Ken!!! This says alot about this head!!
Genz Benz is a fantastic company and I love what they are doing with products and customer service!!
Look forward to more of your videos!!

Happy to say that I am back in the family and am totally loving the Streamliner 900.

FANTASTIC head, and I REALLY like this company. As others have said, this head is unique in that IMO it really does generate what many would consider a 'clean all tube tone' (I'm not one for much distortion, but it does that too). Very forceful low end that stays much tighter and more usable than, for example, the Mesa MPulse600 (which is another of the rare hybrids that actually sounds 'relatively all tube' to me).

The EQ points are perfect, the knobs feel like silk, the unit looks good, and it is one of those heads that sounds great set 'neutral' right out of the box.

The gain structure is wonderful also. There is enough 'power' in both the pre gain and volume to get virtually any sound (from totally clean to totally overdriven) from literally any level of input signal, no matter how hot or soft. VERY impressive. I also very much like the more audio taper operation of the master volume control... no big jumps in volume, and usable through a wide range of the taper.

Here is one of my original clips with the AE410 and my P Bass. I'll be doing some J bass clips with various cabs over the next couple of weeks.
