Genz Benz Streamliner Part 9

Make sure that your AC cable is plugged into the back of the amp tightly.... If you have alot of RF in the area and your AC 3 prong is not connected tightly or attached to a proper 3 prong on the other end..you may pick up RF noise since it is not grounding properly.. Just a thought.. IME over decades..

EDIT.. I have not had this with my Genz gear.. ever.. .. But i did with some old rack gear and an old amp of another company years ago... Once the ground was complete. i was ok..

It buzzes while muted, in various cabs & can stop buzzing sometimes when I touch the top of the case but its intermittent. I have to play at church today so some quick thoughts on what could be causing the buzzing??? What to do about it?

Changed speakon wires & same issue

Instrument cable off & mute... still buzzing.

I do notice that the 1st tube to the left when looking at it is fairly higher than the other 2 tubes. Are they supposed to be all level?

and yes, i was doing the high harmony on that one-good call. ;)

here's another old rocker with a streamliner. a friend used his cell phone cam on this one and unfortunately, its internal mic was getting overloaded (distorted). on this clip i was driving the ST900's front end into distortion with my custom ric-ish bass.

Another awesome vid John!!! Just curious what tube are you running in the V1 position? It sounds great and would love to see,hear more.

Nice. Really no point in cutting through the mix when you can own the bottom half of it. :bassist:

Maybe I should start the old white guy bass player with an inner female black gospel singer club.

Could be a possible cause, even though the connecxtion may be adequate for an overcurrent fault, RF grounding is a little more finicky and if not fully seated could result in noise.

This is possible on all manufacturer's product (and not just bass amps).

That's what I thought but wasn't sure because I knew you had tried a 7025 in V1 also. This is what i'm running in my STL 600

V1- GE 5751
V2- Amperex 7025
V3- RCA 7025

I bought these from LarryR which in turn I think bought them from you. I love the tone I get from my Streamliner through a Hartke Hydrive 410 cab.

yep, i sold those to Larry when he had the amp, then i bought the streamliner from him without any tubes in it.

i ran it with 3 RCA 7025's for a little while, but i've since gone back to the following:

V1- GE 5751
V2- RCA 7025
V3- RCA 7025

Agreed.. I had that issue on a Rack DBX Compressor at one time and my old Ampeg amp 20 years ago....
And just to be clear i have never had any noise issues with my Genz gear folks..

Know I'm really late to the party. Haven't heard this amp in person. From reading this thread it sounds like it's a terrific amp & one of the very most desirable among micros.

The main issue seems to be the blue LEDs. They sure do look great, but if they're faulty or go out, not so much. Understand there's zero functionality issue, all cosmetic. Can send it back under warranty for repair, but it's on the owner's dime, right (& is this only to GB or both ways?)? Either way I'm not so sure, like someone mentioned earlier, if I'd want to pay shipping just to have the LEDs working again. And apart from not being able to look at the purdy lights, you'd get less for it if/when it was sold.

Just wondering how many guys here had the lights go out? Seems like maybe a 1/2 dozen have posted about it. Wondering just how often this happens. Might be a more common issue than just infrequently. Gives me slight pause in pulling the trigger on an otherwise great amp. Of course I know no one is compelling me (or anyone else) to buy one.

Mine haven't gone out. I've been gigging mine pretty steady for the last 6 months to give you an indication of use. It's on for hours at a time, multiple times a week.

I'm not sure that I would care if they did though. I'm indifferent to them. On one hand they look nifty, but on the other hand I don't need the inside of my amp lit up.

There's no "need" for them, right, but I agree they look schweet! Bet almost everyone (maybe everyone) else does too. That's why GB put them in.

But a Streamliner 900 whose lights didn't light would bring a discounted price, that's all.

I'm just starting a ShuttleMax 9.0 thread. Maybe I need to think about it, too.
