Genz Benz Streamliner Part 9

just a side note. i was messing around with my VT pedal thru the streamliner today and was able to nearly duplicate my SVT's clean or dirty tones exactly with it. actually the STM900 sounds great without it, and i'll probably use it without the pedal 90% of the time (since i got the head for simplicity's sake), but it really surprised me how close i could get it to sound to an all tube SVT.

That's pretty cool-I sold my VT before I got the Streamliner so I wondered about that.I have a BDDI that I run in front of mine.It kind of goes the other direction-cleans it up and adds some punch but still keepe the big thick tone.

You should throw up some A/B comparision clips of this. I would love to hear some clips of this amp doing some in your face rock.

i was doing a little tube rolling in my STM900 last night, A/B comparing it with my SVT, and i settled with a GE triple mica 5751 in V1, and two NOS amperex 'bugle boys' in V2 and V3. to eq it closer to my SVT running with all of the eq at noon (which i absolutely love), i'm running the STM900's gain at noon, the bass at 10 o'clock, the mid selected to 220Hz at 9:30-10:00 and the treble at 10:30. this takes some of the cloudiness out of it, yet stays really punchy and clear and still has plenty of heft on all of the notes.

i tried another NOS bugle boy in V1 in place of the 5751 and it was a little darker and a bit more cloudy, so the 5751 went back in it, and that's how i'm going to run it from now on.

That's nice to hear.
I have a JHS pre-amp overdrive pedal, based on a old SVT.
My Streamliner and this comes so close to an SVT.
I run it into a custom Schroeder 2x15 cab, (4 ohms)
The head & cab weight a total of 51 pounds.
My ears & back love this rig.

I joined the Streamliner club yesterday. A 600 through a GK NEO 112 II.

Sounds great. I'm coming from a Shuttle 6.0-12T combo (my main rig for the last 4 years). I was looking for a little more grit and grunt without the grunt coming from me at the end of a 4 hour gig. :D

I just bought an SL 900 from the funkboy over on our want-ads forum, great deal for a great amp.... and a most excellent dude.
Now all I need is a cabinet. :hmm:
Totally novice/amateur usage here, no immediate plans for anything other then backyard picnics.
Maybe a GB 1288T-UQ. That should fill the air in my 2 car garage nicely....if not I could always pile on another.

Thats what im using.. and its a monster. yet it has clarity... It definitely moves air and a pair of them can make your beer go flat

Thats what I wanna try-Ill give you a holler and see what your schedule looks like if you can spare one for a few days. Not like I need to buy more stuff but........

one uberquad will fill a garage and to spare with the 900. unless you plan on having the police show up, you should be fine with one.

hahaha, definetly don't need the cops at my house......again..... :D

I figured two of these things would be overkill..hell...one is going to be overkill for my needs, but, I just gotta do it.
Only problem... a thousands bucks is going to eat up a large portion of my tax refund, she's thinking kitchen appliances while I'm looking at a beer flattener.....

I just got my SL900 yesterday. I got it here in the classis natch (where I got my 6.0 & 9.0 which is now for sale BTW.. ;)) I sold my 1212L a while back and am now running through an AccuGroove Tri115L. My first impressionm of this amp is that it is definitely a different animal from the 9.0 but I love it. It just keeps getting better and better with this stuff for me. I am going to take it to rehearsal tomorrow and run it through the B212 that I leave at church. I have a bass with a U retro pre in it.. so between the bass and the head .. there is just so much in the wy of tojnal possibilities that I get dizzy just thinkiing about it. I really like what this head does when I switch to passive mode on the bass.. The 9.0 sounded good too .. but it wasn't as .. thick for lack of a better term ... Just amazing. I'm getting there.. now all I have to do is improve my playing LOL...
