Sorry for not being in tune with the entirely of this thread but I'm wondering if an actual release date has been set for the 900? I did search on the term "release" for the thread itself and got what seemed to be conflicting info.

Something which said ...

yes....NAMM release.

and another which stated...

April 1 release date...:hiding:

But yet these statements still seemed to be somewhat cryptic in nature.

Sorry if everyone else already understands those things in context but of course my real question here is still... are actual release dates yet known on the Streamline units?

Thanks for any real clues about this. :D

As I understand it the first shipment of amps are to land at Rocket Music in 12 days.

Thank you for clearing that up! :D

I was able to mess with one for a bit at NAMM for a short while but definitely not long enough to contribute anything to the discussion here. I really would have needed to take one home and messed with it with my own stuff for a good while to give any comprehensive feedback! I will say it was VERY nice and looked super awesome and that I'm pretty sure that I want one even from the brief encounter I had.

The driver tubes in an SVT 3 Pro (V4 12ax7 V5 12au7) are able to make that amp have tons of give to it. One of the main features I liked about that amp. Unfortunately Ampeg would not let you capture that sound in any other way than from the powersection. Run a preamp out to another poweramp and you loose the driver tubes and the give. Over excursed a 10" in a Mesa 4x10 because of it.

Me thinks hasbeen is being conservative about the give of the Streamliner. If it is more gooey than the Shuttle 9.0, well then OMG.:hyper:

Streamliner 900
Party!!!
Agreed on the SVT3-Pro. I loved the tone of that amp, but it was just a bit anemic when it came to power. I never really had a need for more when using it, but I did push it quite often, and it sounded really good.

"over excursed"

pretty sure I did that to my ex-wife.

To be accurate, I think you mean ex-cursed. And since it's a Genz thread, the appropriate adverb is uber - hence the totally new and awesome term "uber ex-cursed". I'll demonstrate the context with this short anecdote...

My girlfriend left a nasty pad in the toilet and I uber-excursed her for it. Then she left me. Then I dumped her. Or something like that... :hmm:

Can't wait to hear one myself.
KJung is getting one, so I may have to check out his before I order myself one.

Again, I love that clean DB750 type tone- I hope it does it.

As much as I was very impressed with this amp, I do have to say its a little tough to get a real accurate opinion of it. I was standing two or three feet away, playing through a 1x15 box, and a 1x12, 2x8, horn box. It would have to be a piece of crap not to sound good on that stack. However, I was pretty impressed. A very different sound from the 9.0

I really dont know what to tell you...
I do know i have been using ear protection for 30 years, and when i had my hearing tested last year i passed with flying colors...
We all detect sounds differently though..
And to me the P5 nord sounds nothing like the Duncan P5 or a fender P5 and certainly did not sound my my original 65P at all..Which is smooth brite top with growly mids and tight bottom.. not mushy or dark.. to me it was in the attack of the note...Where the Nord had a bite to it... but after the attack i found they are real similar.. Much more noticeable when played with a pic of which i do about 5% of the time when required on certain gigs.. Otherwise its fingers.
There is nothing wrong with that though...
I hate to continue the OT but just wanted to chime in one last time on the P subject.

I find this interesting. A while back, I had Carey work on my 1960 P bass. While it was at the shop we compared it to his P basses. I (we) were astonished at how similar they sounded. I couldn't get over how authentic the Nordy P's sounded next to mine.
