I too am pulling out. My Streamliner 600 will be sold this week.

Im loving my MarkBass F1 too much and really dont need two heads.

I have enjoyed my time with my STL600 but i feel im never going to be 100% with it.

Hard to beat the F1/F500 for a clean, even, relatively transparent amplification system. The Streamliner is a different thing, and I again use it for my 'all tube' tone goal with my passive P. For everything else, I prefer other heads.

It again is massively great at what it does IMO, and really does a great job for me when I want the general tone and feel of an all tube signal chain. And, the biggest bonus, unlike those horrible low powered tube heads I owned way back in the day, the tone stays constant at all volume levels... it only grinds when you want it to

As I've posted before, those who possibly think this head is just another in the long line of hybrids (i.e., solid state heads with just a smidge of tube in their tone) will either be pleasantly surprised or extremely disappointed, depending on the tone goal. I again describe this head as what the Mesa MPulse600 should have been!

This head has created an interesting dynamic. Even with the hundreds of posts by players describing this head as something truly unique, and really vibing an all tube head, there still were quite a few who purchased it 'hoping' it was yet just another nice version of a typical hybrid (IMO). It really isn't that at all, thank goodness! Plenty of nice solid state and 'traditional' hybrids on the market already, including the Shuttle Max heads.

Hope you dig it. I'm still totally blown away by mine, although again, I use it in the contexts where many would use an all tube head.

Yep, you told me before i got mine and i didnt listen lol.

I would be happy to keep it if i didnt have a head that suits me better, and is small enough to allow me to carry it without another bag.

Ken is right, it is unique! If I didnt have an Orange tube amp and the quite vintage/tubey-ish RH750, Id be keeping the SL900.

The amp is still damn good...I may regret moving it on, but as I play mainly Musicman basses, the LM3 marries perfectly with them, (and all my cabs).

+1 That warm, fat, even tone right out of the box with the LMIII makes a MM just sing. Wonderful combination! Lots of good stuff out there, and so much depends on the mix and match of bass, cab and head.

I agree and it almost got to the point where i was going to get rid of my 1212L and get a more traditional sounding cab so i could keep the STL600, but i was worried another cab might be too much of a gamble (i would have to sell the 1212L first) and there would be no going back.
MB+1212L has worked for me for 5+ years, ive tried a few different heads but always come back to MB.

Ah well we all have different amps we get on with. I had an RH450 and it was fantastic, and now I have the 750, I have the option of more sparkle in the high end and a little more power. To me, the SL900 and RH750 arent that far apart, tonally (the 750 may be a little more coloured...but they are still both articulate, 'tube-like' and warm...with options of grind/grit).

Y'see, to me there seems no need to have both...unless you have spare cash and you really do want to stick to one tone goal (which I indeed did for a while).

Well i did and while i dont regret it (as i ended up with a F1) my problem was more the cab i use.
As ken and many others have said, its a different tone, you might like it even though its different to your SA450.

Give it a go first.

now that the obvious initial hype has been metabolized, we can appreciate the GB STM for what it is, a great amp. Thanks God, we all are different musicians with different tone goals and different taste. What a boring world if everyone likes the same bass, amp and cab, TB would have no reason to exist. My opinion about some dislikes? The norm, tone is a matter of taste.
My PERSONAL opinion on the amp? Well, i'm just editing the mix of the last gig and all I can say is that I do not believe I have such a great tone in a real convenient package...
I'm preparing my wedding and I'm not able to stop thinking about the tone...my future wife hates me...

This situation is whats kept me going for longer than i thought. While i might not have been 100% with my tone live, we record all of our gigs with a small digital recorder strapped to the singers mic stand (so centre stage)and every one of the Streamliner gigs has had a fantastic tone. It sits well in the mix and fits most of the songs we do.

Picked up an SVT 7-Pro today... after playing around with it, I was inspired to try some new settings on my SL900 and have been really surprised at how usable the mid-cut tones are. Might just have to reconsider my FS thread

Band practice tonight, Streamliner/UberQuad with the HH Bongo (bass EQ flat), I have both my pre's at 1, bass at 11, low mids boosted to 2, and treble at 11; fairly conservative, but I loved the fat punchy tone.

I switched over to the Ric 4003 for a few songs and just coudn't dial it in, it was either too boomy or didn't cut through. Realizing they are two completely different instruments, the EQing on the fly (mid song) wasn't really doing it for me. I love this head, just need a little more time getting it to fit with all my basses.
