Genzler Amplification Club

I've been finding myself favoring the "B" contour AMBER LED more lately. When i first got the amp i was into a touch of the Blue LED..
Great amp that can be clean and a mirror sound of your bass or ALSO have some colour or character of its own. Diggin' It

Another Genzler user here to be added to the list. I haven’t read this whole thread so this is probably a repeat of what’s already been said- but I did want to share my thoughts. Huge shout out to Jeff Genzler for the help to me and all his users- cool that he is so involved here. I was a Genz Benz guy and still used the Streamliner/Uber 115 until recently. Jeff recommended the new MG800/BA112-3 for what I was looking for. Honestly I wasn’t so sure because I’m a huge fan of the Streamliner and thought I’d never part with it. Also- I’m an old school guy and it’s still hard for me to wrap my head around a usable single 112 cab on an actual gig. Like a lot of guys here, I came from the days we all lugged big giant cabs and tube heads. So the plan was to use the MG800/BA112-3 on small gigs and rehearsals, and either the Streamliner or my Ashdown Head with the Uber 115 for larger gigs, and maybe a small combo to fill the gap. Now after many side by side comparisos, I sold the Streamliner and am considering getting a second BA cab and calling it a day. The single BA cab has such a surprising stage presence and I always feel like there is a bigger cab behind me when I’m playing. Sounds just fantastic and easily handles a small to medium size gig that my band does. I don’t like pushing my rig hard all night and I’m probably almost easier than I need to be on my gear- but I have pushed it in my living room to see what this will do before it starts to break up- it’s actually hard to get it to it’s limit. It doesn’t seem to break up until way deep into the output, and things were already rattling off my fireplace mantle.

A quick gig report that changed my thought process- I was called to do an outdoor party in a back yard with a band I sub with sometimes. I would have normally taken my Uber 115 but I was told it was a very small setting and a small rig was fine. They aren’t crazy loud, but it’s still drums, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and keys, and me. Got to set up and they moved the band and we were now facing a huge back yard. I wasn’t able to put bass in the monitors and I figured this was going to be a rough night. Played all night and the MG800/ BA112 handled it great and everyone’s told me they heard bass on stage just fine and I wasn’t running it as loud as I had while testing it. Still hard to believe that much Sound comes out of this little box.

Yes sir, that there is the Oilman Model.
Kind of a post retirement gift after 42 years in the Oil Refinery business.
Hard work, provided a good living.
Love my Henry, shoot it on my range regularly, except when I have to snow shoe to get there :)

To keep this music related, I am picking up my new bass on Wednesday. :bassist:

Get another 12/3, the experience will be even better. The mids and highs will be more present. I purchased my third 12/3. From someone who had three of them. They said they didn't need three, that two was enough. Well, I have to say I agree. I have only used three BA12/3 once at an outdoor festival. It's nice to know I have it If I need it, but two will handle 99% if my gigs.

The Mg212 and Uber 115 are very close in overall volume IMO. They sound different but somehow compliment each other if you step away form them and hear a mix.
BUT I prefer all the same type cabs. I think LIKE CABS work better when combined than what im doing.
My Uber115 or MG212 can almost do my larger gigs on their own But just fall a but shy. The TOW give more headroom.
To get one Cab that can sound FRFW and have just a bit more SPL than either of my cabs on their own so i can have a ONE CAB rig. . That would be great.
When i am running 2.6Ω i use my MG800 of Fender TB1200.

I have been doing this so long , I sorta know what i need and what I like and what is needed to get it done. Ive said this 100 times over the years on this TB.. But From experience i have found when i do a bar gig, I play LOUDER on stage than when im playing an arena sized gig. Since I play to the room ..
The arena size and festival gigs always have great PA and I always have a great personal wedge with my own mix or IEMS.. So i can play LOWER on stage at those shows.
My crew guy would love a ONE cab .. And I would too. Its why I got the MG212.. But at times i need a bit more than 21ss and i want to use the same cab for large shows and small shows.

You are correct that 12s can beat out old style 15s.. Barefaced makes a cab that (according to them) has a 12" that has a vd of 550 cc's . That is more than my Genz Uber 115 @ about 505 cc's ... So i guess in theory that barefaced 112 can have higher SPL ( if in a property tuned box) than my already loud Uber 115.. So yes , you are correct about the new style 12's.
But like i mentioned earlier the spec on that eminence 3015LF has a vd of about 850 cc's.. That is more than Most 410s/ ( if in a properly tuned box) . in theory, that is about 1 and 1/2 of my UBER 115s cabs and more than my MG212 IRRC.. That would be in the area of a ONE cab rig.. at about 40 pounds.
The Faital is a great speaker But if you use an ARRAY type cab , the 15 would not have to extend all the way up to 4k on its own. . The ARRAY can handle all of that in a better way.

Just use a powerful MOTOR like the 3015LF to do the heavy lifting in the lows up to maybe 800 and the ARRAY would do the nice wide dispersion that they are becoming known for. ..
It would be great o have a ONCE CAB rig that can sonically SPL-wise get in the middle of what these two cabs do.
Need more than One but LESS than Both of them.

You may mean me- if so.... you are right. I’m loving it. It’s been working great and I’m considering adding another BA. A single BA has really surprised me- as I mentioned, I feel like there is a bigger cab behind me than there is. I’m like you- I’d love a single cab solution for bigger gigs, but 2 of these would be an easy load too. We still need to get together one afternoon and have a bass day!

"Genzler in the wild"

Couple of shots from Sunday afternoon's gig at a small winery just outside Heathcote, Victoria ("Reds and Blues"). Both amp and cabs 33/50 and 34/50 performed flawlessly.
