The gig itself is a blues gig that really requires one bass only so yes, total overkill but I started building a while ago and use gigs as an opportunity to "promote" my basses.

I had to play through a supplied TC electronics 410 cabinet rig this past Sunday morning at a church I was filling in and man did it make me realize even more how blessed I am to have my Genzler Arrays and head. There is simply no comparison in tone. I felt like I was back in a hole compared to the clarity, punch, and dispersion my Arrays give me.

2nd gig with the Sadowsky Metro/ Genzler combination. This was with my main band in a medium sized room. Live open mic jam after we did a band set so I was concentrating on a song I hadn't played before.
My band was blown away with the new set up. Had a couple of bass players in the crowd that came up on the break to take a close inspection as they were very impressed with the tone.

There is the new acoustic bass array. Check gollihur’s site or the DB forum for more detail. I use my bass array with my upright all the time. Sounds great, but only use a pickup.

@chuck3 --- thanks for your question. There are several options in our line for your needs. The first question is, do you have a preamp you currently use to blend your mic and pick up together? Yes, the new Acoustic Array PRO would be an option for you in this regard if you did not.

In general there are many players using both of our Magellan heads (MG350 or MG800) along with the BA10-2 cabs or the BA12-3 cabs for upright. There are a lot of variables that we can discuss. Feel free to PM me about your specific needs.

In general, the Bass Array cabinet design also works exceptional well for these larger acoustic instruments because of their ability to project and disperse with great clarity and detail through out the entire instruments spectrum.

Thanks, Jeff and cultrvultr. No, I don't have a blending preamp yet (got lots of preamps, just not a blending one) and, yes, the Acoustic Array would no doubt work great with the upright. If I only played upright that would do the trick. I need to consider bass guitar as well, so I'm on the fence between the Bass Array (with a blender preamp when I'm playing upright) and the Acoustic Array. I'm sure they're both great. For what it's worth, my practice area looks like a Genz Benz retail store had there ever been such a thing ... :-)

So the plan was to use the MG800/BA112-3 on small gigs and rehearsals, and either the Streamliner or my Ashdown Head with the Uber 115 for larger gigs, and maybe a small combo to fill the gap. Now after many side by side comparisos, I sold the Streamliner and am considering getting a second BA cab and calling it a day. The single BA cab has such a surprising stage presence and I always feel like there is a bigger cab behind me when I’m playing. Sounds just fantastic and easily handles a small to medium size gig that my band does. I don’t like pushing my rig hard all night and I’m probably almost easier than I need to be on my gear- but I have pushed it in my living room to see what this will do before it starts to break up- it’s actually hard to get it to it’s limit. It doesn’t seem to break up until way deep into the output, and things were already rattling off my fireplace mantle.

A quick gig report that changed my thought process- I was called to do an outdoor party in a back yard with a band I sub with sometimes. I would have normally taken my Uber 115 but I was told it was a very small setting and a small rig was fine. They aren’t crazy loud, but it’s still drums, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and keys, and me. Got to set up and they moved the band and we were now facing a huge back yard. I wasn’t able to put bass in the monitors and I figured this was going to be a rough night. Played all night and the MG800/ BA112 handled it great and everyone’s told me they heard bass on stage just fine and I wasn’t running it as loud as I had while testing it. Still hard to believe that much Sound comes out of this little box.

What was it like playing with JB? Was he having fun? All you guys looked pretty stoked.
I kind of got a kick out of the fast and furious guitar playing solos.
I was thinking, man you guys need to breathe try to relax a little.
I would hate to see what would happen if I had to solo next to JB though :-)
Joe would have to make the skunky beer face at me trying to solo.

The bass was easy to hear so your rig did a great job of being heard in the mix.

I don't run that setup, but I do use a BA10-2 for URB. It's a Shen hybrid (SB150 maybe?) with a Full Circle. I have the new little AI Clarus head, and for upright?.....Fuggetabowdit. Killer. Can't imagine it wouldn't sound great blending a mic and pickup.

And since you double you're good to go with 'lectric, too.

Joe is a military buff, I'm sure he was having fun, he did it for free, he just wanted to come and hang out for the day, we showed him an f-22 and then played a couple songs, chatted and he went on his way, super nice guy, but most celebrities I meet in this job are, they wouldn't come perform with us for free if they weren't cool dudes.
