Yes, don't repeat this but we have a few players that run the MG-800 at 2 ohms. We feel that when using our cabs it is much "safer" than if you might be using other cabs on the market which may tend to have lower impedance than shown. You won't blow up the amp but if there were an issue it might be premature distortion or something along those lines. We have certainly overbuilt this design for any potential issue.

That being said, TECHNICALLY, I think the SWR Goliath Sr is a 6 ohm cab (although it is labelled 4 ohms). I used to be a big SWR guy, and had a hard time figuring out how you could wire the 6 speakers to get equal volume and get 4 ohms of resistance. It’d still be lower than 2.67 ohms running the cabs together, but not a full on 2 ohms. I think.

I think you can run two 4 ohm cabs.

Well two 4 ohm cabs would be a 2 ohm load so not in parallel.

Well a 4 and and 8 ohm cab will give the 2.67 ohm minimum.

I'd agree with the others here and avoid the 2 ohm load... but my real question is WHY? Unless you're planing demolition work or really wish you had tinnitus, why would you want to run 800 solid aggressive Genzler watts into a 610 and a 215? If you aren't turning it up, you won't really get the impact of all of that cone area and if you do... it is way too loud.

It makes me think of a comment I heard from Jay Leno on his review of the Fiat 500 Abarth. He said "It is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" He went on to gush over how much fun it is to push the Fiat to its limits while saying that if you push a corvette to its limits, "by the time you've gotten through 2nd gear, you're already in jail."

Not to say that the 800 + any single cab is a "slow car," or even that it is good to push bass amps to their limits... still... you get my point I think.

Hey, all. Sorry for the delay but I was doing a product photo shoot all day.
I would NOT be as concerned to run the MG 800 at 2 ohms using Genzler cabs, but other brands I'm not so sure. But to the specific question about the SWR 610, I also agree that this is probably a 6 ohm cab even if measured resistance is.lower.
You could certainly try running the Sunn and SWR cabs and set the MG 800 at 2.67 imp setting. You wont blow up anything but if the amp does not like the load, it will just give you more distortion and cacking when driven hard.
Your MG 800 is very over built for safety so you can't hurt it, just might kick back a little.

Thanks for the save on that post. My post is edited and fixed. As for the MG-350, it would react much the same way BUT I would say that the MG-800 gives us more "safe room" for this out of spec operation. Again you won't really hurt anything but if the amp does not like it, it will let you know. This all is dependent upon demand on the amp and how hard you're pushing it.

Despite some of the fun posts here, just gotta share the (new to me) 350 combo love. Played in a 6 person acoustic/electric worship rehearsal last night. I heard tones from my Lakland 44-02 Dlx that I’d never heard before from any amp/cab combo. Just blew me away. Of course, bandmates asked what was different, in the most complimentary way. Looking forward to this weekend when I get to put it in play for the real. No knocks on the MG800 (now sitting at home) but @Nightman and @SteveC identified that real secret sauce from the 350 combo. I’m lovin’ it!
