Hi all. I'm about to bite the bullet and go for the MG 350 amp head. My only decision now is which cab. The MG 350 combo is the obvious set up. It looks stunning!! However, how would the BA10-2 cab compare with the Barefaced one10 cab? Anyone here tried both? I've heard that the one10 has a Vintage coloration, what does that mean? Does the BA10-2 have any coloration? Does the BA10-2 have as good a low end as the one10? Barefaced have told me that their one10 compares to most 12 inch cabs. Again, how will the BA10-2 compare? Thanks in advance

I honestly haven't played any of the Barefaced cabs, but they seem to have an excellent reputation. I do have experience with the MG350 combo, both with and without the BA10-2 extension cabinet. I have been totally gobsmacked by the performance of the combo...all by itself. It goes deeper than I thought possible, without any sign of stress. I previously owned the Shuttle 3.0-10t with the matching 10-t extension cabinet...as much as I loved that rig, once I got the Magellan 800 and compared it to my Shuttle 9.0, I knew that I had to try the 350 combo. It has turned out to be so much more usable in situations where my Shuttle 3.0 stack simply ran out of gas and I have been able to use the combo all by itself in places that I normally would have brought the Magellan 800 and my GS112s. I rarely play my fiver, but the combo had no problems handling the B without effort.
Perhaps the most amazing thing to me is how the little combo handles the room...not talking arenas or concert halls, but the "average bar gig"--listening to some videos that my wife took first with the combo and BA10-2 extension, and then in the same room with just the combo, I was struck by how absolutely solid the little combo was.
Not saying that I won't be using my 800 with the 12s anymore...it's just that I no longer need to.

I do really like the quality and implementation of the drive channel on the MG800...although I rarely use it. In combination with the amber contour (I can never remember which is A or B!), it gives me some really vintage tones that remind me of the days of my wayward youth (see avatar). That said, from what I have heard on TB, there are a myriad of drive/distortion pedals that seem to do the trick for those so inclined that could be put in front of the MG350. I have come to find out that I really don't need the horsepower that the 800 brings to the table...although I really like having it and the 800 isn't going anywhere (I know...I said the same thing about my two Shuttles!), the simple truth from where I sit is that the little 350 combo covers so much of what I am likely to be doing that my 800 and GS112s just hang out in our music room.
I admit being really amazed at Jeff's Bass Array cabinets...I think they really work. If I were starting over I would in all likelihood grab the BA12-3s over my GS112s. I really like the Aggies, but the new cabs do sound better to my ear especially in the high-mid to high range, and the off-axis coverage is definitely better on stage--I can hear myself pretty much wherever I stand.
If at all possible, try to audition the MG350 combo in one of your band settings, just to see if it works for your needs. I feel that I am not alone here in being pleasantly surprised (okay...gobsmacked!) in the amount of sonic territory the little combo can cover.

OK, I'm speaking from ignorance here as I've not played a Barefaced cab but my gut tells me that they're exaggerating how good they are. I have no doubt that they are great cabs but physics are physics. I can't imagine that their 110 is the equivalent of a good 112 or that their 112's are the equivalent of a good 212 or 410.

Again, I'm not knocking the cabs. Too many people like them for that. It's just that I find the hype from the manufacture to be a bit much.

That all said, I really like the BA10-2. I do prefer the sound of the BA12-3 a bit but the schlepabilty factor and the fact that is does sound soooo good for such a little cab makes it a really great choice. I have one of each of the cabs I mentioned and neither is going anywhere.

Exactly why I got rid of my MG800/BA12-3 rig and got an MG350 Combo. The “big” rig sounded great, but not that much greater - to me - to justify the significantly larger cab/schlep factor.

I personally would not run two 4ohm cabs. It’s minimum speaker load is 2.67ohms. Don’t want to run the risk of damage or voided warranty.

My buddy has a Sunn 2x15 hanging around...I’d reeeeeally love to pair it up with my SWR 6x10/Genzler MG800 just for kicks...

How reliably, if at all, can I run a 2ohm load?
WOW! I say do it, just for kicks, and watch the volume level on your amp, and don’t do it around any smoke. That way if you smell any you’d know it is the amp!

I'd agree with the others here and avoid the 2 ohm load... but my real question is WHY? Unless you're planing demolition work or really wish you had tinnitus, why would you want to run 800 solid aggressive Genzler watts into a 610 and a 215? If you aren't turning it up, you won't really get the impact of all of that cone area and if you do... it is way too loud.

It makes me think of a comment I heard from Jay Leno on his review of the Fiat 500 Abarth. He said "It is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" He went on to gush over how much fun it is to push the Fiat to its limits while saying that if you push a corvette to its limits, "by the time you've gotten through 2nd gear, you're already in jail."

Not to say that the 800 + any single cab is a "slow car," or even that it is good to push bass amps to their limits... still... you get my point I think.
