I cheated this weekend. I was at a get together and tried a friends Bergantino B|amp and 310 (2 forward and 1 rear facing) and 112 stack. It sounded really good. I know I have been singing the praises of my little combo, but when I hear whats missing (regardless of brand) I kinda feel like I should have a little more fullness in my sound - even if it's just for a few times a year. I mean, the combo sounds amazing for what it is, but I might need to trade some portability for a more full sound. I mean, I am a bass player, right?

Have I gone too far in my quest to be small and portable? This isn't necessarily about brand. I can beef up my Genzler rig no problem I guess - but the Bergantino sounded pretty darn nice. It was "the other" choice when I was shopping.

An unfair comparison (of course). Put the same speaker area under the combo. Or even a single additional 10 if portability remains paramount.

I've mentioned before that I put two 12-3's under mine. Your ears will be rewarded.

Absolutely not saying it's a fair comparison as it isn't. Just confessing a bit as I have been a loyal Genz-Benz/Genzler user. Another BA10-2 would be a logical option to get some headroom and more speaker surface area/air movement.

I'll probably get over it. You know when you are somewhere with cool stuff - amps, basses, etc. - it's easy to GAS. Hopefully I'll play my little amp again and realize it's really all I "need" for my gigs and bank account.
