You know, the coupling thing has always been a bit of a mystery to me. I certainly have had issues in the past with big boomy stages when I had amps that sat directly on the floor, and with my two 12-3's I keep them raised up, mostly for the sake of having them closer to to my head, using a pair of large black milk crates. I haven't noticed that they lack anything as a result, but I do hear them better.

When I inevitably get around to buying a third 12-3 I will get rid of the milk crates, and I suppose that will tell me something.

Thanks Saint - That’s the same motivation I had for wanting to put mine up in the first place - just a little bit closer to the ear, and have decided (following the comment from Jeff) not to at this time. I’m happy to hear that you have not heard a discernible difference getting yours off the stage. I also thought I might wait until another cabinet is in my budget and then add an SLT to the configuration to get something a little bit more at ear level. My other (budget) challenge is that I am using a Shuttle 9.0 and Jeff relayed that it does not want to operate at the lower ohms that the third cabinet would provide (I think this makes it a 2.67 ohms system). Our band travels and there is no room for additional milk crates/similar solution so I looked into a lot of amplifier stands, and did not find any that were very well-suited for the dimensions of my 12-3 cabs.

I am lucky that I play out with people who get it and gigs where I don’t need to be super loud. MG350(BA10-2) Combo is all I need. I am curious about the new “tall boy” 12 for just a little extra fullness maybe.

Well, while I've never had all 3 of my 12-3's out of the house at the same time, there's just something about that punch that you get from a stack. I would imagine it's the same with the 410- when I had SWR 4x10's years ago (RIP to them and their weight ), even one 410 was nice to get the pant legs flapping... no offense to you 350 combo guys, but I think the comparison is like a studio monitor (accurate and detailed) to blasting your tower speakers and subs (although the BA in the Genzler stuff does help with the clarity and accuracy). Rock and roll is about excess, after all.

It would blow your mind how much volume, punch and low end a 350 head and 2 of the 10-2 arrays put out. I play in churches from 500-4000 seats throughout the year and it exceeds every time.

Funny thing is that is my Uber 210 underneath my BA410-3. I decided to use it to get some height on my cab. Had full FOH support so this was just as a monitor for me. I had some feed in my wedge as well. I had a great tone all night. Here is a short sound sample from sound check.

Very cool. I am also a Sadowsky guy! My only issue is when we are on LARGE stage that does not have any side fill. As long as I’m reasonably in front of my wedge (or in front of my rig – which tends to put me in the same general area), I’m good. But if I am away from that area… engaging with the crowd… jamming with the lead guitar player, for instance ... then from a sound perspective, I can tend to get a little lost in the stage mix. We’ve got monitors for the other two guys in the front of the stage (too) and I’m catching a lot of their drift as you can imagine. Don’t really know that more power on stage in this situation solves my problem or not. I do have an in-ear system (I haven’t used it in this band yet) and I’m hoping that may be a good alternative to solve this issue. This large stage scenario is generally the case at only about one out of five gigs.

That makes me ask the question why is a cabinet that big really needed with majority of gigs having FOH support also?

Ha! I’ll confuse you some more....95% of the time I use IEM too.

That BA410-3 spreads out more tone than any cab I’ve owned. Large stages are all we play. I have a wireless and roam all over as much real estate they give us. When we use wedges the BA410 is great for these situations. It is an amazing cab!!

Same with me (spreading it out AND using a wireless) but when I’m on the other side of the stage from where my rig sits, I don’t get much bass. Of course we are behind the front of house so although we get some bass feel on the stage, not a lot of clarity. OK - thx.

Folding foot stools like these fold flat so you can just squish it up between cabs when traveling.

I can provide limited info. I've had the 12TV for several weeks but only used at home so far. I use with the MG350 amp. I don't have the BA12-3 nor have i tried one but i do have the BA110. The 12T-V is fuller and "rounder" sounding than the 110, not surprisingly. I think i would describe the 12TV as more of an "old-school" sound versus the more "modern" sound of the BA110. The 12TV tweeter is very sweet and adds a nice sheen to the sound, not at all harsh. The BA110 to my ears has more "bite" or "edge" than the 112TV and the two cabs sound distinctly different. In fact just today i was thinking that the 12TV vs BA110 is like comparing passive J and P basses (which in fact are what i play) - round full rich 12TV "P sound" and biting edgy growly "J sound". A simplification of course, and you should try to hear the cabs since obviously these are my impressions only.

Hope this helps a bit...

Edit: should have also mentioned that i really like the ergonomics of the 12TV - it provides excellent sound in a box that i can easily carry, unlike so many other [quality] 112 cabs.

My brother is a sound engineer and was once on tour with Creed. I got to go up on stage before the doors opened and mess around on the bass player's rig using his sadowsky. Hated it. Never was a fan since, but you've opened my eyes, that sounds killer sir!
