Hi Guys,

I'm new here, and new for Genzler/GenzBenz. I'm living in Hungary, Europe. Play better jazz, and smooth. Want a buy a whole amp/cab set. I like a tube preamp sound.
I tested a Genzbenz Neo 3.5 amp, its very good piece - i want this sound.

I need your help.
I should buy old GenzBenz Neo 3.5 wo Phones (400 USD) or Genzler Streamliner 900 (650USD)?

Both a good condition. Streamliner is smaller and has phone for home use. I want use for practice at home, and sometimes gig. Cabs 1x15 , 2x10.

I own both and very much love the Streamliner, but honestly it is very cab picky. If your cab is mid forward or even, the Streamliner is a great choice and will sound excellent. If your cab is scooped or has a lot of low end, then you may want to look elsewhere as the Streamliner will sound muddy and veiled. If you like the NEOPAK then just get it. it is a very nice sounding head, in fact it sounds very similar to the Genzler Magellan 800 minus the power. IMHO.

So all you way more knowledgeable people then me I have a question. I have the genzler 800 watt head and then the slanted 15” cab “which is loud enough for most situations, even outside” but I do want to add another cab at some point. What do you guys feel would be the best cab for the job that will go along with the 15”? The owner of the music shop, who is a bassist very good one, said if it were him he’d def own a genzler amp and then also he would add another 15”. What y’all think? My first instinct was slanted 12” or 10” for more
Boom and mids but maybe a 15” is the right call? Thoughts?

If you like the sound of the 15", 2x is even better.

I'm biased.
I prefer the 410 - 1x15 super stack for outdoor gigs. Whenever those can be.

but the good thing about Genzler gear is that it pairs well with anything.

Me too!!! However, if that is too big for you adding a BA210-3 SLT to the BA15-3 SLT is a killer combo as well.

Well, I can tell you that my 15 + 210 is rig heaven for me. Yes, I'd love a 410 on top of the 15 but I really have no need for anything that big and loud and the portability of the 210 gives me, and my back, all the sound I need.

Plus, if you have two different cabs that play nice together, but also play well alone, you have the flexibility of just bringing out one or the other. It basically gives you three different rigs rather than the 2x15 which only gives you two.

Yeah, I know I could try to find something else that would work, but I'm too lazy to go shopping for mixer bags and laptop cases and whatever else.

I found a used wireless mic bag at my local yesterday that I almost grabbed but I didn't have anything to measure the inside dimensions and I didn't want to have to take it home then return it.

Interested in an Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal but wondering if having both preamps on changes the sound/tone too much.

Looking to purchase a new amp head. My local boutique dealer stocks Genzler and Bergantino. Obviously I'm preaching to the converted here, but can people tell me why I might choose the Magellan 800? My previous head was a GK MB800Fusion.

The extra 100w on the Magellan seems nice (compared to 700 4ohm on the Forte) but I'm not sure if I'll actually hear too much of a difference volume/headroom-wise so my main question is about tone/build/features etc. I realise i'm comparing two excellent heads here.

Any experience of both would be appreciated! I'm using a Phil Jones C8 cabinet 800w @ 4ohm.

If you're looking for a transparent amp meaning, it allows the natural sound of your bass to come through it, then Genzler FTW! The Forte was on my short list of amps to buy though. It maybe great but I didn't like the idea of it being more software based. I work in IT and I know how reliable software can be...lol

You can get some color\character with the contour knob on the Genzler. It'll mid boast or it'll scoop, dependant on the mode. Genzler is cheaper (for me at least).

If you plug your preamp into the Magellan instrument input, both preamps will be active. Only you can tell if that's what you you want to hear. You can set the MG's eq to flat and tweak from the TH, or tweak from the MG. You may be able to plug the TH into the MG's Aux In but I don't know if that bypasses the MG pre. That may be a question for Jeff.

Same power, just difference in the distortion level as to the power rating used. I own both Genzler and Berg.
