I suggested you go with a 210 instead of the 15 way back in the thread since you were looking for more miss and highs. At this point it seems like the 2 15s just aren’t delivering what you want. Why not put a 210 on top?

I think I remember you suggesting this but I cannot recall if this was before or after I got the second cab. The only reason which I took the second 15 so quickly was cause my local shop owner gave me a great deal on a new one, so I just couldn’t pass it up, it’s great I don’t mean to make it sound like I’m not enjoying my rig! I most certainly am! And it would work just fine honestly with dials on noon and go. I’m being a tone snob and I fully admit it hahah! I love experimenting with all types of tones, during knobs diff ways an just seeing what I can get, and I love the changes of like a Spector to a jazz on the genzlers you can really tell the diff.

To the point, I do feel like I would like more speakers vs more bottom end, the 1 15” is plenty low hitting. And I love the idea of the speakers on the front! Brilliant! I honestly forgot and didn’t realize jeff had a 2x10 cab. I’ll have to look into that. It may get me more of what I want. I play jam band stuff, so the generas of music ranges from
Rock, reggae, pychadelic, blues, you name it. I think that why I’m so attracted to the genzler an it’s head the Magellan cause it’s capable of tones on its own a lot of them!

With this being said, can you or anyone input what you more veteran and knowledgeable thumpers tell me what I would hear mainly from taking the 15” out and replacing it with the 2x10 on top of the 15” original I had? It sounds like a super interesting combo of cabs cause I don’t think I want dual 12s in the mix with the 15” I think that would possibly be same issue I think the 2x10s may just give me that low thumping sound I love that fills up the room only like a genzler cab and then the tens would help cut on higher notes, fills, and fx.

would anyone suggest staying with the 2 15s? I do love the SLT-15 array cabs they are something! As mentioned I know I can squeeze the tone I want out of the 15s I’m just curious! All genzler stuff is amazing!

I'll let you know how the 15+210 sounds later today. But as for the outdoor gig last night, the 800 into the head could have carried the "room" even if I wasn't piped into the PA which was also the first time I've DI'd directly off the Magellan head (mic/pre). I was using first gear of the 4onF set to just a nice breakup and it sounded great and felt really good to have some "heft" behind me.

As I said, tonight I'll be using both and hope to take this bliss to the next level.

yes please let me know the results. I would like to just know the diff to expect between what I have an then that set up you have. I think I would like it, but maybe I’m overthinking cuz I like to tinker lol. Great setup! Have a killer show!

The bass array 210 really has me wondering. That in combination with one of the 15” array cabs instead of two 15” might get rid of some of the super punch that is more heated toward metal, an idk maybe the 210 will bring more cut in the mix with fx an higher register notes and fills. I know what one 15” can do on its own. And I’ve seen a guy be able to turn volume wwwaaayyyy louder then me cause his 4x10 just obviously won’t hit like 2 15”s. I’m just wondering if two 15s is more range limiting then mayeb bringing in two more speakers into the mix, I would think that would help spread our all the diff frequencies and tones the 10s and the little driver speakers taking over most the highs mid and low mids and the 15” carrying most the punch. I imagine the 210 is solid by itself but lacks the full punch, with a 15” cab… I wonder…..genzlers cabs are so next level in my opinion. I was such a mesa guy and thought I was for sure going to gett subway. An then I never ever knew genzler when I got to let alone the price! But it’s worth it and it would be worth it even higher honestly, I truly think the cabs and head are that much better.

I pro musician touring all the time is a friend an he switched to genzler to, an he was saying how the DI of the Magellan smokes his $1000 DI unit not even close

@PhishPhan22 , I’ve been following your comments and trying to figure out exactly what it is that you’re looking for… Talking about music is like dancing about architecture… and talking about tone is perhaps even more tricky.
It sounds to me that what you’re missing is the brittleness that comes from some tweeters… that you want a bit of crunch in the top end that you aren’t getting from your BA15s. Is that what you’re saying? If that is what you’re looking for, I don’t think the BA210 would meet your desires either. The 210 does likely punch a bit harder than the 15 but it will still have the smooth character of the paper line array and similar dispersion characteristics. The 15 does go a bit lower and may have a warmer bottom end but again, if I’m understanding what you’re looking for, I’m not sure the 210 is quite the right cab. Perhaps you might be more satisfied with something like the Nu cabs? OTOH, if it is just a bit more punch in the lower mids, then perhaps the BA210 or the BA410 would be more of what you desire than the BA15.
Your observation that a friend with a 410 can turn up way louder is even more confusing. I expect your two BA15s can go as loud as that 410 or louder plus give you much, much better coverage in the room unless his 410 is a BA.
Bottom line… it still isn’t quite clear to me what you want that you aren’t getting.

So I’ve tried my best to look through this thread for answers, but at 515 pages it’s all a bit much!
I’ve got the opportunity to purchase either 1 12-3 Bass Array, or 2 1x12 Raezers Edge Bass Lite cabs for the same $$, and honestly, while I think I’d probably like the tone of the Bass Array best I need to purchase whichever cabs will get me enough volume to get over a hard playing drummer and a couple 50 watt amp toting guitarists in a rock setting.
Just how loud does one of these 12-3 BAs get compared to 2 traditional 12” cabs? The Raezers Edge are front ported with no tweeter and use Eminence Deltalite 12” speakers.
Thanks all for any experience you may be able to draw on to help answer my question! This thread has been incredibly educational so far…

Unfortunately no, as I don’t have a head yet either. Recently getting back into Bass after a 20 year absence (been playing guitar in between), but I’m most likely going to look for a 500w or so class D head. Ampeg/GK/TC are probably the price range I’ll end up in. Or if I find a good older SS head I wouldn’t be opposed either. I play a 4 string p bass exclusively, so no concern about the low B.
From what I’ve been told the Raezers Edge cabs are pretty similar to Aguilar 1x12s in voicing and volume, so that may help draw some comparisons.

As much as I love the BA10-2s I'm still curious about the Nu Classic cabs. They would not replace the BA10-2s but just give a different flavor when the mood struck. What are your impressions of the Nu Classics so far?

Very favorable so far. For sure at rehearsal volumes they sound great - the two gigs I done with them so far have had their challenges with one being outdoors on the cement in a gazebo (and the first real gig in about a year so other non-Genzler issues kept presenting themselves), and the other the indoor pickup gig with an IEM setup we couldn't get dialed in. I've never tried the BA10-2s but these cabs seem to be working better for me personally than the BA12-3s - there's a 'snap' to them that I was never skilled enough to dial in on the BA12-3s. I always second guess myself on these things but my only initial question is if I should have gone with two 210s versus the 210+112 combination - that's a personal preference thing and not a concern about the cabs.

Survey says? I’m in love with the 15/210 combo. More than enough power on tap to shake the stage (if necessary) and the two tens add a little more punch.

Now take this with a very large grain of salt as I’m assessing these during a live festival setting with substantial PA support but I don’t think the 210 will do what you’re seeking, @PhishPhan22, as I’d characterize the difference between the 15 and the 210 as very similar in sound with the 210 voiced a little higher and the bloom delivering more quickly. The 10” punchiness is there. I don’t know if the crossover point with the arrays is the same between the 15 and the 210 but I didn’t notice anything different on the top end or overall tone between the two. It just adds a slightly quicker initial punch. But wow! I love the two of them paired. Quick. Deep. Clear.

I ran the DI off the Magellan 800 head again with the 4otF still set in first gear for a nice light breakup when I dig in and the FOH guy told me between our sets that he wished all bass players played setups that sounded as good as this. He said he didn’t have to do hardly anything on his end and he liked having the cabs fill in the space between the PA subs. Just amazing kit.

So, from now on, I think I’m going to run the 15 for small gigs as I like the deep extension of that cab. And frankly it’s the quickest and punchiest 15 I’ve ever played. Big stages get the full treatment.

Great comments, and a great looking rig. Glad the 4OTF PEDAL is giving you a nice little always on flavor that you like. Sure pops visually sitting in your pedal board.
Looks like a big stage as well. Great to see gigs happening again.

That's kind of the beauty of the 210 + 15 combination...you get three rigs out of it. I've used the 15 alone, the 210 alone and both together and they really give you extreme flexibility and impact. A single 10 would be a nice addition but for now the current setup covers 95% of my needs (maybe more).

I'm curious about the Mesa/Genzler familial connection. So, let's do a quick poll.

Who is running a Mesa head with a Genzler cab, or a Genzler head with a Mesa cab? What combination do you have, and how are you liking it?

I'm sure there are at least some players doing a combination, especially with the current short supply of Mesa cabs, relative to the availability of Genzler cabs.

I'll play, Mesa head Genz cabs for a 3x12 vertical stack that absolutely crushes.

Ok, I’ll play also, love my combination of these two. Best of the best from two great designers.

Well, as you do not own an amp head yet, I‘d suggest to focus on purchasing one first. Obviously, I‘d recommend the Genzler Magellan series amps for anyrhing and everything bass related.
However, a more sound approach would be to state your budget (either for amp+cab or either unit independently) and the hive mind can then assist you in finding good gear for your needs.

PS: posting from a phone is hard

Well, as I have the two cabs available locally and immediately, I have no choice but to make that my current focus, and their respective maximum volume and projection isn’t going to change no matter what head I get. So my question remains: what would get me over a loud drummer and a couple guitarists better - 2 1x12 Raezers Edge Bass Lite cabs or a single 12-3 Bass Array? I’d love to hear from some players with experience playing a single bass array in this setting even if they don’t have experience with the 2 specific 1x12s in question.

2 speakers are going to be louder (all else being equal) without knowing their efficiency it’s hard to say since all things are not equal.

If your guitarists are not overpowering the drummer and you can hear him fine - the 12-3 will be ok. If your guitarists are volume war types that dime all their tone knobs or even run a really scooped tone - you will be fighting a volume/frequency war and you will need one of two things. A wall of speakers or the ability to get your guitarists to use some common sense.

so - you’ll probably need the 410 and a 210…

seriously the ba cabs do help cut through the mix and while they are really good at it - they aren’t magic. They are highly efficient though so one might be twice as loud as your raezer (I don’t know their efficiency).

I have had a couple situations where one wasn’t enough - couldn’t hear the drummer either.

so the answer is - it depends.
