Hi there,
I’m new here and I’m impressed with the amount of info and exchange of support here. Therefore, I look forward to some opinion.
I’ve been playing Genz Benz cabs for a number of years, currently play through a 2x10 focus and a 500watt Aguilar head. When I need some extra volume for larger gigs without PA support, I add a heavy 1x15 from a cheap sounding brand which will remain nameless. I like the extended low end, but the cab is terrible.
So I decided to buy a new good cab which won’t take me to the chiropractor.
Recently I briefly tested a Genzler BA10-2 from an acquaintance and I really liked the sound. He told me about this forum and here I am.
There’s a clearance deal on a BA12-3 and on a Magellan 1x12. The specs of both look great on paper. I’m also interested on the BA15-3, however the price is a little too much for me right now. I am a working musician/teacher. To test them I would have to drive 4.5 hours each way, so I’d rather not.
I like the extended frequency response of a 12 or a 15 speaker, and although I play only 4 string P basses, I use octavers quite frequently.
I can’t help to wonder how a BA12-3 on top of the 2x10 focus would sound. I never used a 12 on top of 2x10 before. Can anybody think of any cons on that configuration? Are the cabs way too different? Any other suggestions? I can’t buy 2 new Genzler cabs now, but that would be as plan in the future. Any input is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance!
Rob
