I played two gigs over the weekend with the MG800 into a pair of MG12T-Vs. Of course both nights I forgot to take pictures. Both were medium-sized clubs with a capacity of maybe 100-125 people.

The first night I left everything flat except contour A, which I set at about 9 o'clock. This setting smoothed out the mids some but there was still some growl there if I wanted it. The second night was with no contour and I set the mid frequency at noon and cut the mids back to about 10 o'clock. This setting seemed to warm up the mids better than contour A, at least for my tone goals and this particular band (me, drums, two guitars, female vocalist, three back up vocals; only vocals in the PA).

I was having second thoughts about selling the NC112 on Friday night using Contour A with the MGs , but on Saturday night, with the mid cut, I was very pleased.

Of course this is just for my tone goals in this setting, but I could get any of the Genzler cabs working for me without a doubt.

It has an ugly resonance/vibration on E notes with much beyond living room volume levels, particularly 14th fret on the D string and 9th on the G. I've tried different basses and heads and it's definitely an issue with the cab. Also tried moving it around the room and the issue remains.

The cab did a lot of traveling on its way to me. I had asked UPS to hold it for me as I was away when it was scheduled for delivery, but they ignored that and shipped it back to the store and then had to come back so it traveled a significant distance three times on its way to me. I imagine something could have come loose in all that travel, but I took the opportunity to tighten up every screw I could get to with no positive result.

Any ideas for additional fixes to try? Any assistance will be appreciated.

Try re-seating the array plug. If that doesnt help, contact Jeff.

Question for you Genzler geeks about power vis a vis MG350 vs MG800. I currently use a 350 with either 2 - 10-2 array cabs or a 10-2MG112TV stack. Mostly electric upright bass, fairly loud NewGrass band. At times I feel like I'm pushing the 350 to its limits and am wondering if I'd be better off with an MG800 head. But I am a bit concerned about that much power into lower-rated cabs (the 10-2 is rated at 250 watts and the 112TV at 350 watts, both at 8 ohms). I know how to manage/limit my volume, but am concerned that peaks might throw more at the speakers than they are designed to handle. Anyone using the MG800 regularly with smaller cabs?

I know how to manage/limit my volume, but am concerned that peaks might throw more at the speakers than they are designed to handle. Anyone using the MG800 regularly with smaller cabs?

Since the amp can do 2.67 ohms safely (remember to flip the switch) why not run all three cabs vertical at once? More paper should give you more volume than just adding more watts. Plus it gets the speakers closer to your ears.

Good point, but I’m using the rig primarily with upright bass. I’d really prefer not to have to haul 3 cabs.

Well then, you have no choice but to get another 112TV and then an 800 (for the headroom of course, yeah that's the ticket ) Just tell your wife the interwebs "made" you do it.

I have a 350 and have never had the master higher than about 10 or 11 oçlock. Maybe your EUB has a low output? Do you set the gain up just below clipping. As well as bass guitar, I play acoustic upright with a Zac Victor piezo pickup and I'd blow the windows out of my house if I turned the 350 right up.

So, if I've got a REALLY hot output P-Bass that I like the tone of a lot, and then say a "meh" sounding Jazz with considerably lower output, could I use the re/Q as a "always on" HPF/LPF for both basses, then engage the "EQ" side for the Jazz to sweeten it up a little & then compensate for the lower output using the EQ Output level knob?

It seems to me this is totally doable, but I figure I'd ask those that may have tried something similar?

If it could do this, it would be a game changer for me...a "one stomp solution", as it is right now, I have to stomp on a TC Spark to up the gain, and then adjust the amps EQ (or my preamp pedal) to get the Jazz "in the game"....would be a total PITA if I had to do this a couple times a gig...

I do not own one (yet) but it my understanding from watching the "doubler" video demo that it can do exactly that - use the EQ side to increase the output level and tweak the eq. Kick on the eq side when using your jazz bass.
