Great analogy. My cousin still has his Boss 302 and Boss 429...I love those cars. So, in car analogy terms, what is an MG cab?

BTW, every time I see a post about the Nu Classic cabs, I get the feeling I'm making a mistake selling mine. Genzler provides great choices for sure!

The MG cabs are akin to a Caterham Seven 420R; a fully modern cab with classic styling. They're all about tight, quick, light, and aggressive in the mids without the girthiness of an 8 cylinder engine. "The 420r is extremely light as it is basically only four wheels with an engine and it can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The car reaches a top speed of 140 mph. The Caterham is a difficult beast to control as it is extremely quick and it is not afraid to bite back." But in a great way!

I almost bought your 112 if I hadn't just ordered the 212 again. Heck, at the price you listed including the cover, I'm almost tempted to get it anyway!

And a pic of last evenings rehearsal. I took the picture right after setting up the rig but before fiddling with the knobs. The new slanted 12-3 is on the bottom, my old 12-3 on top. Notice the rubber feet on the side of the old 12-3. It is the old version with the handle on the side. I actually prefer this setup to the new recessed handle on the top, as it is easier to carry around. The original design only lacked additional rubber feet on the side in my opinion, which I added later myself.

The sound was positively thick! The little tower delivered a broad bass sound with authority into every nook and cranny of the room. I ended up about 2 meters away to the side of the cabs and still hear me loud and clear.
I left everything at noon, and added a little bit of contour A (about 9 o'clock). Gain and master were set realy low, because we're rehearsing at very low (and pleasing!) volumes.
When I kicked in the drive channel for a round (maxed out gain, because why not?), my drummer started giggling. He loved it.

I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

I love the combination of the BA112-3 SLT with the regular BA112-3 (or two!). Enjoy!

My buddy built one up from the kit. He’s an experienced FAA certified A&P inspector and he said that you want to be darn sure you build it right the first time because with the power to weight ratio, you probably won’t have an opportunity to have a “do-over”. I rose in it once, and I would describe the experience as wicked.

I got a BA12-3 a few days ago to go with my Bergantino B Amp, and after an adjustment period, I'm really liking it. When I went from a Fender Bassman 500 to the B Amp, I was at first underwhelmed because I went from a pretty heavily baked in sound to a much more clear/neutral sound. Once I took time to get my ears acclimated and explore the numerous adjustments available, I fell in love with the amp because I had so many more options. I'm finding the same thing with the BA12-3. I was using a Rumble 115 before that, which is a great cab for the money, but has a pretty baked in sound and doesn't easily do clean and clear. So switching to the BA, it was kind of a shock because...duh...it was clean and clear. So once I figured out how to turn knobs to get the more vintagey sounds when I wanted them, and started to really appreciate the ability to reproduce my bass sound with minimal coloration, the bonding really started.

And now I'm at a bit of crossroads. I was thinking of adding an MG112TV because 1) I wanted the option to have a more traditional cab when needed 2) It seems it would mesh well with the BA, having the same speaker and 3) at 24 lbs, my wrists really like that option for when I don't need a lot of amp. But now I'm wondering if I should just go for a second BA (probably tilted) so I can take full advantage of the dispersion when using two cabs. Thoughts? I've only used the BA in a small room so far, does it punch hard when you open it up? Does the MG112TV offer more punch? Is a BA10-2 a better match/will it give me similar volume to a 2x12 stack?

One BA12-3 is a very nice set up
Two of them together is in a completely different (and better) league. They really shine when paired together.

Like everything in the world, getting components is difficult and is causing delays. Be patient, the re/Q will hit soon and you all are going to love it!!

This might be a good question for @Jeff Genzler to weigh in on. If you want the second cabinet as another, lighter option by itself that is one thing. I have both a 10-2 and a 112TV and they work well together or separately, I do not know if that would be the case if/when you were to want to pair one of those cabs with the 12-3.

Patiently awaiting!
I did a massive gear purge recently and my genzler head and only a few pedals will remain. I got rid of the big ashdown and stopped my search for another head to try. I am more than certain the magellan 800 and the reQ will cover 98% of the tones in my head and the b7k and duality fuzz will cover the rest. Having too many pedals and knobs to turn is eating up more practice time than I'd like.

i like the stack - coupling adds volume and more bottom extension. You can easily get more vintage tone from twisting knobs on the amp…

@PotsdamBass8 thank you for your purchases and considerations for an additional cab. Certainly I don't think there are any wrong choices you're considering, really. There are advantages to 2 of the same type of BA cabs used together. Not only will the woofers couple (like most cabs) but the 2 similar line array columns will couple which I've always said feels like coupling to a factor of 3 than the normal x2 for standard cabs.
If you used the MG112TV under the BA12-3 well certainly the woofers will couple. The benefit of a rig like that is that you do have 2 completely different cabs, for a little variety. Totally your choice, no really wrong decisions.
