Even factoring in a 7-hour round trip and the price of gas, it might still be worth it - or maybe I'll send my kids on a road trip to do the pick up for me for Father's day...

Jamvan I sure hope everything checks out okay. Glad it was a fun gig…but I think you had just too much bad luck for one night. There weren’t any little dolls that resemble you with some pins sticking out by chance?

So I had a chance to go through things. I took the head out of its case and heard some rattling inside so I tried to dump it out through the vents. Here’s what was in there.

Unsure of what it was, I grabbed my EiC and Speakon to see if whatever may have broken on the inside had any affect on it. Imagine my relief when I found a crushed silica packet in my case and that’s what had worked it’s way into my amp!

With that out of the way, the head has some scuffs and a small dent on the edge of the faceplate but didn’t appear any worse for the wear. Worked great. The cab didn’t have a mark on it and it too worked great. I setup my same setup as the gig; played through it, let it sit, and it did not exhibit any of the issues I experienced last night. Thankfully.

Would silica create interference with the internal electronics?

I'm afraid. So very afraid. We played a pre-party for a country music festival last evening and I ran into some crazy power issues that zapped my rig multiple times. I got everything set up and was tuning and playing a little bit to make sure everything worked (which it did. Sounded great too!) when I heard a high-pitched squeal while simultaneously it sounded as if a mule was kicking the speakers in my NC-212 and then I lost power to everything. I quickly turned the switch on my amp off just to protect it if something else happened. It turned out that someone had pulled the plug on the main stage power source that I was tapped into for my needs. I use a Furman surge protector so I'm not sure what the heck happened as unplugging power shouldn't result in that type of a response.

I waited for everything to come back online and I turned my amp back on and waited for the lights to come on which, to my relief, they did. Played through it and everything seemed to be working as normal UNTIL IT DID IT AGAIN!! I quickly shut it down and unplugged it completely. Fool me twice...

I was VERY angry by this point as I didn't need my rig fried but the show must go on. I decided it's a DI only night and will sort it all out later. Well, imagine my dismay when a 45-50mph wind gust knocked over a light stand taking my amp/cab and basses out with it. My amp took a swan dive off the top of the 212. Thankfully it landed on the wood stage we were on and it didn't appear to have any cosmetic damage to it but I was NOT going to plug it in to see if it still worked.

So I'm sitting here working today as I anxiously await having some time to go plug everything in here at home to see if it still works. We did get an onsite electrician to come over and test the power source for us and he says it was all good but the way my rig reacted tell me something somewhere was not liking either the amps or volts because those weren't normal sounds coming out of it. I was the first plug on the stage power but no one else was powered up yet when it happened so I think I took the full brunt of whatever happened.

Cross your fingers please.

(As an aside, it was a fun show...tiny little stage on the corner of the beer garden overlooking the festival grounds. We had to put up some snow-fencing to keep people back as they were ready for some fun.

Proud…proud of him completing his first, live, solo gig…albeit his “band” was a compilation of backing tracks he accompanied. But he did it…2.5 hours and 32 songs…and he didn’t want to take a break because “I wasn’t tired and I was having too much fun.” The MG-800/NC-212/NC-115 combo was freaking amazing!!!

I see lots of the BA12 & BA15 in the forum here.
Should i stick to a single speaker or will the 2×10 be just what I'm looking for?
I use a basic 2x10 currently with Magellan 800, looking for more clarity and keeping the sae response level.
Any feed back im open too.
I play alot of rush and yes, i like that piano like bass sounds

The BA210 is a fine cab. You will not be disappointed. Is there any way you can demo the cabs to make sure you pic what meets your sonic needs and budget?

Well the 12-3 does spec out with a little more low end but the 210-3 will sound fuller than a single 12 IMHO. There is something special about the coupling of multiple speakers.

I'm not sure what the border restrictions are currently but if you're in the Windsor area and up for a day trip and are open to checking out the Nu-Classic cabs instead the BAs, Huber Breese music is about 25 miles from Detroit and I think they have several variations of the NCs in stock to check out (plus maybe a BA15). I tried 2xBA12-3 but converted to the NCs and I feel like they are plenty 'zingy' even without the array.

I have been using a BA10 atop a BA12 for several years now, and I think it is a sublime combination. While the individual speakers have various merits in their own right, for me, the combination of different driver sizes, along with the array configuration, gives the perfect sound: a big bottom, clear and punchy mids, and an extended top end. I keep secretly hoping that Genzler will come out with a single box that has a 12, a 10, and a couple of the 3” array drivers.

Hmmm… I know that trying to describe tone is like dancing about architecture but wouldn’t describe any of the arrays as having “zing.” The highs are certainly there but they are smooth rather than zingy to my ears. What I hear the arrays bringing to the table is a smoothness with no transitional bulbs anywhere in the sonic range of the cab plus amazing dispersion. If you’re looking for zing, I would think a more traditional tweeter cab, like the NU series, would get closer.
