With the Crash Box I’m really looking forward to the LPF/HPF controls as well as the different gears. So often (and this is a user error) I’ve hit a drive pedal and either the gain is too high or low, being able to set certain parameters within a tune appeals to me.
Also, I know this isn’t necessarily the pedal for it but I think the low gain options will be really nice too. I like using the drive channel on the Magellan but miss some of the bottom end when I really drive it. First gear should get me where I would like to be.

Have you tried the 4 on the floor for lower drive? I have a fotf and love it. It's my almost always on pedal now. The crash box is next on the list to get
Underserved by the PA?? No worries! The full BA 210/115 setup made its debut last evening when we thought we were gonna have to forego 13 of our 21 inputs as we only got an 8-track mixer for our festival side stage.
Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and our drummer-come-sound engineer jury-rigged our IEM mixer and was able to feed it directly to the mains bypassing the 1970’s era mixer. I still kept my full setup and it sounded great and felt even better!!

Good points.
The 4 on the Floor and Crash Box have some overlap for sure, the lower gain algorithms are a little smoother and rounder, less aggressive on the 4 on the Floor, the Crash Box is more aggressive overall.
In a nutshell, the Crashbox gears 1 and 2 overlap the 4 on the Floor gears 3 and (sort of) 4, but the algorithms are not the same so the texture and compression effects will be different. It's similar to comparing the overdriven tones of a "tube" amp to the more distorted tones of a "solid state" amp (for lack of a better stereotype)
Well I AM going to need to make room for the Crashbox coming tomorrow but other than that…

I love 3rd Gear on the Crash Box and 2nd Gear on the 4OTF!!
Second gear is my go to on the 4OTF as well. I feel it is a very "natural" and responsive OD that fits well in a mix and doesn't sound like a pedal - just a good amp with a little dirt.

I have always struggled with finding an overdrive that not only sounds good to me, but doesn’t lose all the low end in a mix, or sound like angry robotic android killer bees in the high end. It looks like a lot of thought went into designing the four on the floor and the crash box. I look forward to trying them both as soon as I get a chance. It has been my experience that anything that Jeff or Andy touches sounds great to me. I’m sure these pedals will be no different.

I do. I have one of the more recent OVNIFX Smoothies set to “Tough” which I’ve now had for almost two years? I was going through comps at quite the clip until I picked this one up.
Just got one recently. Have been without one for a long time. Selected Empress Bass compressor. Hopefully I will be satisfied with it long term and will not go down the rabbit hole in search of the perfect one. Still need to add a few things, one being 4otf.
Thats a good one. I had one for a while and kind of wish I would have done more with the side chain. I play with the kick and the idea of having it carve out around the kick appeals to me more now than when I had it.
Ultimate for me (although I can’t justify the expense) is an Origin Effects Cali76-TX-L. To much money and too big for my board.
It’s a great compressor. I know people love the Cali and a couple others, but the Empress is amazing. Quite a few knobs, but once you’re set it doesn’t matter.

Very close to perfect if you aren’t looking for tubiness then the LA1A would be the tool of choice…
I’d agree with this 100%. So much so, I’ve actually considered using the 4otF and Re/Q as my “amp” on an IEM board, along with a Radial DI.
