If I weren’t waiting for a specific pedal preamp/DI to be released, I would be making a board with my current Sonic Research Tuner and Empress Bass Compressor, and buy a 4OTF drive and Re/Q to go into my REDDI or maybe a different, more board friendly DI to make a little cleaner board as I’d obviously have to go bigger than my Nano.

And depending on how the upcoming pedal sounds/works, I may still prefer the analog goodness of the things I have - and could add - anyway. Sometimes smaller/more compact isn’t always better.

Time will tell I guess.

Fortunately cooler heads prevailed and our drummer-come-sound engineer jury-rigged our IEM mixer and was able to feed it directly to the mains bypassing the 1970’s era mixer. I still kept my full setup and it sounded great and felt even better!!

Twins, right down to the GLXD16 (on the floor by the rig). New pedalboard will have the GLXD mounted.

I got the Genzler Crash Box yesterday and have to say I'm really digging it. I'm currently recovering from COVID and don't have any practices scheduled but I foresee good things.
There are a ton of tones in the pedal I'll tell you that. Between the Drive Sensitivity switch, the LPF/HPF and the different gears I can dial up a lot of great sounding distortion tones. The low gain sounds are great and the high gain can get grindy but also are controlled and sound really nice. It never gets totally blown out where it slips into Fuzz territory. There's also a really great fundamental that I feel will cut through and sit in the mix nicely.
I have 3 main basses that I use but so far have only tried it with two - a passive P with flats and an active (Sadowsky pre) PJ with rounds. I'm able to easily dial in tones that fit both of the basses. I can allow more high end for the p and dial it back on the bright active bass to tame the sizzle. Or I can go more vintage and allow more bottom end distortion with the LPF. My other bass is a hollow body short scale with tape wounds.
There's also great sensitivity so I can have it in 3rd gear and while playing softly not have it distorted but can dig in and it's there!
My rig is Genzler Magellan 800 > Audiokinesis Hathor 1203 (At my practice space I have an Audiokinesis Thunderchild 112). Currently the CrashBox has displaced a Darkglass Alpha Omega on my board. It may go up for sale but I also may keep it around for the DI as a just in case.

Please share your settings, and how you might use the various options. It would be helpful to others. If you have access to a 4 on the Floor, your impression of the differences between the two pedals would be interesting too.

I just noticed another brand cabinet maker selling a cab that is switchable between 4 and 8 ohms. Seems like a fantastic idea so that using one cab gets the full power of the amp but also give you the flexibility to use another or even two more 8 ohm cab loads and switching the 4 to 8 ohms.

How is this not a regular thing on most or all cabs? Is there something that a) prevents this being done more frequently or b) is so revolutionary it's going to take awhile to catch on but will eventually be there?

Thought I'd ask here since we love our Genzler cabs so much and are a generally swell bunch of smart people!

In general, the tradeoffs of doing so generally affects the sensitivity, inductance and Qts in ways that reduce performance. In many cases, the sensitivity falls as much as the power delivered to the speaker increases, resulting in no net increase in maximum SPL.

This is why this has not become a standard feature, many designers have looked into a variety of ways of doing this, most have come to the same conclusion.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Wonder why this one company (pretty highly regarded I think) moved forward. Tech breakthrough? Marketing differentiation decision?

I think an A/B comparison would be necessary to determine the results of the trade-offs.

Aggies do ok except on the court and the field ;)
