No IEMs all wedges. Soundman said he figured I’d want bass in my wedge and gave me and the drummer the 15”. We have 6 wedges total on our rider for every show.

Yes, it is an extra head as a spare --- just in case. Tour manager requested it, but with Genzler Amplification real world history, it's really not needed.

Let me paint you a very typical picture. I’m 51 years old and have been playing bass in bands since I was 18. I’ve played and owned almost every bass brand & bass rig under the sun. I always end up back in the arms of Ampeg amps with fender or peavey basses. Have always worked for the heavy rock & metal outfits I’ve been in. I currently play through my dream rig. Ampeg SVT 4 pro & two Ampeg 212AV cabs. I have heard nor felt a better set up than my current one. A new project has surfaced and we are moving from our current C-standard tuning to drop A . Trying it with my current cabs is ok but with the amount of effects and overdrive I use I feel I’m pushing the 212AV cabs almost to their limit. The low end extension on these cabs isn’t cutting it in drop A. I live my life in the low mids. 200hz-350hz is where the heft in my lows come from. I love growling low mids that cut through a wall of guitars. I will have to deal with 3 guitars all playing 25-50 watt tube amps through their 2x12 cabs in our new lineup. I thought about getting two Ampeg’s PN-115HLF to get me where I want to be but I’m unsure. I feel the 15’s may suck the life out of my low mid sound. I have a heavy love affair with 2x12 cabs now. I stopped playing 15” speaker cabs in the 90s. I’ve been looking at all the new Genzler cabs for a while now. Last time I owned anything in that realm was some GenBenz stuff in the early 2000’s. I’m looking at the Magellan 212T to get a solid foundation at the 27.5hz frequency of drop A and still cut through the wall of guitars with prominent, punchy low mids. Any suggestions are welcome. To get a vibe of my playing here we are in C-standard. Our next venture will be in Drop A and a lot darker shoegaze like. We lay heavy on my bass. I really want the Magellan 212T to fit the bill.

I don’t have experience with the 12” Genzler cabs.
But I will share that I haven’t owned a 15 inch cab since the mid 90s… And now I’ve got a Genzler BA-15-3.
That combined with a couple of 2 x 10“ cabs on top sounds godly, omnipotent… I get all the punch, mid range and highs I ever want, and the 15 goes so deep I’m actually craving to go below my low b on my six string because it seems like the cab isn’t even breaking a sweat putting out that frequency. here’s a picture of that rig: BA15-3, BA210-3, Bergantino HDN210

So, this old man had to do some shlepping of a BA15 and BA210 this past weekend, and, well, got me thinking about super lightweight cabinets, specifically those made by GRBass out of Italy. They have a line that utilizes carbon fiber and it has me GAS'ing a bit. Their 212 weighs under 20 pounds! By way of comparison, the NU212 is 44 pounds, more than double. And a single BA12-3 is 32 pounds.

I guess I'm posting here because I really love my Genzler gear but if I were to wish for anything, it would be a super lightweight cab from Genzler. I love my BA cabs but how nice would it be to one hand carry a 212? I don't have roadies (boy if I did) and most every gig I'm using on stage cabs for me and the band primarily.

OK, talk me down or not. Hope I haven't offended anyone!

I have the MG212T, and I have a BA10-2 and BA12-3 (looking to sell). Both the BA and MG series have seriously good response through the whole range. I would say that the BA has a bit more clarity and clean in the upper mids vs the MG which gets a bit more “speaker flavor”, based on my limited comparisons. Based on what I’ve heard here comparing the cabs, I think the MG212T would be great, but a pair of the BA15-3s would be unreal. They won’t respond like old 15” cabs, due to the new design speakers and the crossover/array. I imagine if you can’t get a clear and deep low A from those, you might need to tweak elsewhere.

I would like to see a side impact test for the grbass cabinets. Or even see how the stand up to riding in a trailer with other gear over time. I have to think that you would need to put them in a road case.

Topic for another forum I guess.

[Edit] after reviewing their site the cabinet panels sandwich some inner material... So maybe it's more durable than I initially thought.

Imagine a BA210-3 on top of a BA15-3. Now imagine two stacks like that right next to each other. If that won’t get you into bass heaven, idk what will.

Yes, everything at 12:00 and Contour A at 10:00!

The past couple of shows I have been using the Neural DSP Quad Cortex for tone shaping and effects as well.
