@PaulS ---- That is a good question. Frankly there would be no difference in recording with the DI out from your MG-800 or the PRE/DI pedal. So if you already have an MG amp and you don't have a need for an even more portable preamp option, then this might not be a product for your needs.

BUT also, if you do have a Magellan amp and you've always wanted a second preamp channel for a different bass in your set-up, then you can run the MG-PRE-PEDAL into the AUX IN of the Magellan 350 or 800 and have a different instrument plugged in there.

I never thought of that. So in essence, you can make your MG head into a 2 channel head. Interesting. I wish I had more gigs that used an amp as this is a fantastic idea/option.

Yes, this is an option. In Nate Navarros demo video, he shows this with an EUB into the MG-PRE-PEDAL into his MG-800 Aux In. Offers complete EQ and level control for a second instrument along with a seperate DI out to a different channel in the FOH board. Just because....

The ability to use the preamp as a second channel along with the amp’s main preamp… more common in dual pick-up setups (esp. mag + piezo, mag + mic or piezo + mic)

Correct, and with a second preamp on the second channel into the aux, taking a DI from the second channel keeps the two signals separate all the way to the console.
