Hey all. I picked up two NC-212s yesterday and was wondering if I should have gone with a NC-212 and NC-115 instead?

I would think you’d be just fine with the dual 212. Most peeps like to go with matching cabs for best dispersion etc but I know some of our Genzler fam have had success with mixing different sized drivers. Maybe you just need to pick up a 15 too so you have all the bases covered!

Depends; were you hoping to blow your pants off? If so 2xNC-212 will do the trick quite nicely. If you were just hoping to be heard by the entire neighborhood, a 212/115 would have worked just fine.

I apologize, I was unaware of the rule to wear pants while playing but I promise to abide by the trouser law.

I was curious if the 115 would complement the 212 more than a second 212.

Personally, I favor the voicing of 12s, so 2 x 212 is my choice. Assuming that those are 4ohm cabs each, just make sure it's a friendly configuration (2ohms combined) for your amplifier.

Yes sir, Mesa WD-800. Probably going to keep the two 212s and pick up a 115 the next time I find one at a good price.

I have to say that I was having trouble getting good midrange definition, from about 400-1khz. More experiments are in order.

I’ve been appreciating Contour B lately.

Even better when combined with the overdrive channel, but running the gain low so there’s just a bit of an edge.

I'll give that a shot tonight. Last night sounded pretty good, but the mids were still getting lost a bit. I'll also be playing my modded Starfire, so we'll see how that goes.

They absolutely do. The covers look road worn but never tear or come apart. They do a great job keeping the cabs looking new. Highly recommend!!

The cabinet I have at rehearsal is a modified SWR Goliath III, last night’s gig was with my LDS nEarful 15+6.

The contour B/overdrive combo was sounding too middly, so I went back to contour A and eventually the clean channel. Sounded great!

So, the MG350 plus two BA12-3s sound amazing. I was hearing kind of weird stuff on Friday night but it was hard to isolate what caused it, so last night I put up a Zoom H4n Pro right in front of the rig to get a more object perspective. It sounded utterly pristine, which is what I'm going for. It sounded especially good with my Starfire. All reports from the FOH were very positive, including from some bass playing friends who are familiar with my sound and playing. So, this is now my full-time rig. Getting it up off the floor really helped (and the Gramma pad helps with the boominess of the hollow stage. It's too bad that by itself it's not deep enough to get all of the feet on the cabinet on the platform).

(Head is on the guitar rig to the left because the laptop that runs the IEMs resides on tope of the rig.)

And they provide a huge amount of slam. Until I can afford a Meyer rig with a roadie to move it around, this will do nicely.

I don't know whether this is the right place to share this, but I still like to gig with my Genz-Benz ShuttleMax 9.2 most when it comes to difficult acoustic environmental conditions. It's my acoustic swiss army knife. The preamp is one of the best bass preamps ever build.

A pretty significant percentage of the Genzler fans here played Genz Benz rigs before. (I owned a Shuttle 3.0 and a 9.0). They were/are great amps. You can certainly hear the family resemblance but also the evolution from the previous line to the current one. As much as I loved my Shuttles, I love my Genzler even more.

A pretty significant percentage of the Genzler fans here played Genz Benz rigs before. They were/are great amps. You can certainly hear the family resemblance but also the evolution from the previous line to the current one. As much as I loved my Shuttles, I love my Genzler even more.

Neo-Pak 3.5, Shuttle 6.0 and 9.2 were mine. I agree with the "family resemblance" notion. I still have the 9.2 and I love the MG-350 in my Combo-10-2.
