Boy, you all have some big rigs. I can't imagine ever needing 2 of the larger cabs, let alone 3. I know every situation is different and all, but are stage volumes so loud you need the MG800 and a pair or 212 or115 cabs? Or is it just to have a more full sound at a lower volume? I gig with my 350/112T-V and it's been plenty. Just jazz/fusion type of stuff, but some outdoor farmers market type deals and even then I am surprised at the output and sound of this combo. Drummers using sticks and playing, guitar and keys amped up, etc.

That's precisely why I'm debating adding the 115 to the 212. We play some larger stages and while we have full PA support, both my bandmates and FOH techs want to have my bass sound coming off stage to fill the space as well as complements the subs. This surprised me as I was heading down a path of no amp/cab on stage. It's also why I use my BA cabs in the summer for larger/outdoor events and have been more than happy with the 212 during the winter for indoor gigs as the BAs are overkill for those. Heck, the 212 is overkill but it sounds great and fills the space.
While I don't need the 115 for gigs, I know full stop I would like the cab better than the MG-112T-V that I use at home and would then consider selling that off to someone else who might like it better.
Virtually all my gigs are FOH supported (either our own that we bring or a giant festival supplied system) so my little combo is just for smaller, lower volume stuff, but it's been plenty and it's very capable. If I were not in a situation where I was playing with pairs of subs and a silent stage I'd have some bigger cabs as well. Even so, it seems like a couple of these cabs (410, 212, 115) would be plenty to do the job is all. But I'm not trying to tell people how to set their rig, spend their money or what to haul around.

It's not really about volume. IMO there is just something magical about the coupling of multiple drivers. A fullness and presence that I can not achieve with a single driver. Plus, it feels to me the whole system does not have to work as hard when I do need volume.
I'm currently running 3x12 vertical (a version 1 12-3 on top of a genz benz neox 212 loaded with nos nx2 faitals) Eventually I will add one more 12-3 on top or slide a 15-3 underneath. Final choice yet to be decided.
I can’t speak for others here, but I use heads with the output of the MG800 I have one of those also. If I’m carrying the room I use three 12s with FOH I just use 112. It’s not about being loud it’s about a good clean full sound. I really don’t like playing loud

I just played my Genzler rig in this venue. I had to keep the volume much lower than I thought I would.

from what I can see, Genzler is not here.
I really wanted to see the new Markbass cabs… but they are not here either.
What I saw that was cool is a 30 inch scale 5 string prototype at Devon. Very cool.
NAMM is significantly smaller than the pre-covid events. Lots of manufacturers are not here or have very a reduced presence. Probably 1/2 of the previous space that was used is blocked off and empty. That said there is a good energy here that was not present at the last NAMM.
I know someone will be able to answer this question. Why was the MG 800 made to only handle 2.67 ohms and not a 2 ohms load? Don’t get me wrong I love this head, I’m a Genzler/ Genz Benz fan boy owning three of their head and cabinets. I’m just wondering

Grateful Dead night with the Avalanche. A 2 hour set outside followed by two sets inside the arena during the breaks between periods. Probably the 4th or 5th time we've done this with the Avs, and we've also done it with the Nuggets and the lacrosse team. We've kind of become the house band!

it been addressed a few times. Jeff Genzler has mentioned - they’ll do 2 ohms with his (or other tight tolerance cabs) but the the 2.67ohm rating is more to allow where other manufacturers might be a little more loosy goosy with the specs.

If you look back I asked if I could use another third (8 ohm) cabinet, and was told I could since it was their stuff, but I never was told why the set it up at 2.67. Hey Joe, were they running the exploded array point source boxes flown from the lid of the shed or the Vertec boxes flown mid-stage?
I ran a venue for quite a few years with a line array system flown that way (subs were under the stage lip though), and provided the on-stage shading is well executed it can make the stage sound very full and rich.

we do all try to help each other out here, sharing settings and what rigs are working for each of us and there’s not usually any negative intent.
