My band played the Capitol Center of the Arts / Chubb Theatre in Concord, NH on Saturday, 5/13 and I got to demo the GENZLER BA2-410-3 Series 2 Bass Cab. Back in February, I got to demo the Series 2 BA2-15-3 SLT cab. I loved how the Series 2 added more clarity on the top end. However, it wasn’t a huge sounding difference. Still had that punchy low end with definition that this cab is known for. But, with a little more on top. The BA2-410-3 is a different story!

At first listen, I immediately heard the increased high end on this cab. Not so much like a tweeter sizzle, but like a nice bump in that 3-4K range. It also had more depth going on. This is completely different from my Series 1 BA410-3 that I am so used too. This is a major upgrade with this cab! I ran both 410 cabs side by side with the Magellan 800 so I can hear the difference and boy did I. I decided to put the Series 2 410 on top of my BA210-3 SLT like I normally do at shows for more of a familiar feel. The BA2-410-3 sang each note out with more punch, more clarity that cut through more than what I was used to. Coming from Genz Benz Uber cabs, this was really nice to hear. Using two 410-3 cabs was big and massive on stage and the cabs complimented each other nicely. The dispersion seems even greater too. Being able to hear it from one side of the stage to the other and I’m sure all the way up into the balconies is always welcome! I had a few crew members say that the bass was so much clearer in the mix. Now that’s what I like to hear!

Bottom line…the Series 2 BA2-410-3 is a big upgrade to the already stellar Series 1 cab. The new drivers give this cab exactly what it needed with a little more depth and increased highs making it the ultimate one cab solution. Or, a great addition to any of the Series 1 or 2 cabs for a bigger sounding rig. Another big plus is the BA2-410-3 is 6 pounds lighter making it super manageable from car to stage.

A big thanks goes out to Jeff Genzler for all his support. As well as suppling players with the ultimate table of tone with his Amps, Cabs and pedals!

I just picked up a BA 10-2 Series 2 and had some questions . I reached out to Jeff Genzler . He responded within 8 hours . Killer little cab . Plan to get at least one more .

A pair is great, three even better :bassist: I bet that Demeter is super Tasty with the 10-2!

I just acquired a Magellan 350 with a cradle and I am super impressed with that little head. It's been 4 years or so since I tried the MG800, and initially that head left me luke warm. I have a feeling it was the pairing with more old school cabs I was using at that time. I think I would like to revisit it with the bass arrays.

Edit: Just snagged a second MG 350!

I use a pair as well so I can have a fully stereo signal. With 2 BA12s, it's a pretty amazing rig.

Interesting...I first tried the Magellan in a store shortly after they came out and the amp really impressed me.

I kept an eye out, then 2 years ago found one on Craigslist - I liked it but didn't fall head over heels.

Since then, I've gotten over my concerns about Class D amps - but all the ones I tried were either a little too bright, or a little too murky, or just felt polite when I wanted them to dig deep and punch back...

Then a couple months ago, I bought another Magellan - and there it was: the sound I had in my head.

For me, the key was to embrace the contour control.
I used to avoid contour controls because they'd suck out all the mids and make you disappear in the mix.

But the contour control on the Magellan is really musical and completely usable - so I've been very happy using its contour to dial in my basic sound and then use the EQ for more specific adjustments.

Truth!
I have a 4 ohm and an 8 ohm cab, and the Magellan can easily drive both.
But using my GK 700RB-II to drive one of the cabs is a real eye opener; definitely greater than the sum of the parts.
(The GK gets particularly aggressive sounding when driving an 8 ohm load)

The Array cabs are very innovative and I appreciate the ongoing improvement in this product line. I had a pair of the original BA-112-3 cabs and found them a bit loose in the low end. No knock on the design. Many players are quite happy with them. My question here: Would a BA2-112-3SLT provide a more focused low end?

Thank you for your comments. We've had a few players testing the BA2-112-3SLT/STR cabs and overall comments have been that the low frequencies are "more focused" than previous version. Now there are always challenges in describing tone in words.
I would not have thought the orginal design was "loose" in the low end, but again to me the SLANT version always has had a "cleaner" LF, so perhaps that is part of what your experience might have been. Especially if you were using the STRAIGHT vs the SLANT version.

In the NEW SERIES 2, 12" versions we do feel that there are differences to be experienced, so might be good to take a listen again if and when you might have the chance.
