Genzler Amplification Club

I used to do big pedalboards. I have been able to get everything I need out of the Neural DSP Quad Cortex. I made captures of every Genzler pedal and amp with great results. I bring it on fly dates and it doesn’t matter what backline I have….I got my Genzler tone!!

I always felt like I wish my BA 12-3 had bit more top end. In the past Jeff had said I might like the 210 better for that reason. But now it sounds like the BA2 does have a little more top end? Wish I could test out the new 210 vs the new 112. I really like my version one 12-3 overall so maybe the BA2 12-3 would be the simplest answer.

Is there any side by side comparison audio or video?

I agree. I love the sound of my bass that comes out of the MG350 head into my IEMs (and to the FOH- at last Sunday's gig I put some half-round strings on my TBX 6 and the sound was huge. Since going to the MG350 from Alembic and Groove Tubes preamps, a lot of people of commented on the great tone), but the cabinets just don't project the clarity. It's a struggle for gigs where I don't get to use my ears.

It would be nice if we could boost the high end output of the cabinet without affecting what goes to FOH. I always have my send post-EQ.

Comments like this have me debate using the Genzler pre/DI instead of my Stomp. But I still may try to get synth sounds on my stomp so I don’t have to bring my MODX6 to gigs.or I could go old school and use a BMS for my synth stuff. But I need about 4 different synth types so… sorry, got on a tangent there.

Have you tried two 15-3's? While I liked the 15-3/210-3 combination, I like the double 15-3 even more, though I can definitely see other people preferring the 15-3/210-3.

Another option to get some more top end is to run a BA10-2 on top of the 12-3. I’ve been doing that for the past five or six years myself, driven by an MG350. That combination has been sublime. I keep secretly hoping that Genzler will come out with a single cabinet that has a 12”, a 10” (or maybe an 8”), and some of the array speakers. Personally, I prefer mixed speaker sizes rather than multiples of the same size. To my ears, the response is more even top to bottom that way and provides punch, depth, and clarity.

Haven't needed that much volume in a long time (which I'm thankful for) so I appreciate having a small rig.

If I got another cab I'd sell the one I have now most likely.

If I had damaged my MG800 about a year and a half ago when I stupidly left it set to 4/8 ohms but used the NC212+NC112 together for a 2.67 load, would the amp not work at all? Whenever I use the amp with a 4/8 ohm load since then everything sounds great, but when I've used a 2.67 ohm load (with the switch in the proper position) I haven't really been able to hear myself onstage. It may just be situational but is it possible the 4/8 setting works OK but the 2.67 setting doesn't? Seems like it would be all or nothing.

Just eq it how you like for on stage. Foh is going to eq it to sound good out front.

what you don’t do is change it dramaticly after he’s done all the work… even if you change clean channel vs dirty - make sure you are at unity gain.

You cannot damage the amp by just having the impedance switch in the wrong position. Not possible. What you hear might be a situational thing.

I have heard the suggestion for two 15-3 over the 15-3/210-3 more than once. That definitely would be massive. Hope I can hear it at the dealer someday soon.

I’m almost totally IEM. But every now and again I get to use my Genzler rig. Two 10-2’s and the MG800.

Did a reggae-ish gig (reggae infused originals with some reggae chestnuts thrown in) last night. Used the clean side of the 800 and Contour A at 9:00 and juuuust a smidge of added Bass. Bass had flats with the tone control rolled off. Phat. Super punchy. Like….SUPER punchy.

I get to use my MG350/112T-V combo next week for an outdoor gig at a farmer’s market. Singer/songwriter coupe with mix of covers and originals. May or may not have a drummer. I’m fine either way as we’ve done it both ways. Just fun to get to use my amp once in a while. The negative part of being DI/IEM most of the time.
