I wonder how much to your rig’s sound had to do with it not being on that wooden stage, especially with all the floor mic’s?

Dave's got four 12's!! I would really like to hear that setup.
I currently have both hooked up to the Shuttlemax 12.0 and the clean headroom is ridiculous. But, it doesn't take much volume to get them to sing and they sound insanely full.

Nice looking double cab set up. You can also run them both with the MG-800 even though it would be a 2 ohm load. OK to do with Genzler cabs.
Stack those cabs and it could knock you off your feet.
Yup. I had read here before that the MG was good with the 2 ohm load from your cabs. That will be this weekend. The SMax reminds me more of my long lost stolen GBE1200, so it got the first crack. I do believe the old Ampeg stack is going into cold storage after almost 20 years of service.

I am looking to replace my 200ish watt Hartke 112 combo that recently died a horrible, screechy death. I am considering putting up the $ for a Magellan 350 combo because it fits in between the Rumble 40 for tiny gigs/home and the Genz Benz Contour 15" 500c @300 watts/8 ohms for bigger gigs.
The Mag Combo would take all of my available funds, but the Benz has been the best amp I've had in 50 years of playing, so I'm betting Magellan is better.
Here's the question: I'd like to use the Magellan combo's 10" array as an extension speaker on the Contour to get 500 watts for larger gigs -- so I'd have 40, 175, 300 and 500 available and anything louder than that is FOH.
Will the array be compatible with Contour? Will it create beautiful tones or is it just going to be a sonic mess?

Hey Mr -- @Old Blastard . If you don't mind, I can add some comment from my experience with other users.
Using the little BA10-2-S2 cabinet on top of your larger Contour 500--15" combo would be perfectly fine. I would recommend using it in line with that cabinet and not next to it.
By placing that little cab on top, I think you'd be very impressed with the additional clarity and depth of notes coming from your current combo AND I would recommend trying the COMBO wiht the Tweeter OFF so that the 15" cabinet is just providing lower and low mid extension and with the little cab on top it will provide very clear and articulate notes.
By no means, a "sonic mess", so no concern there.
I'm sure there are other players that have used the Bass Array cabs with traditional speakers as well, but the above has been my experience with users doing similar things.

Thank you, sir! I appreciate more than you know the fact that you took the time to answer me. The quality and qualities of my Benz and the ease of talking to folks at the top are major reasons for going with the Magellan.
Happy thanksgiving! From last nights gig…bottom cab is aimed at the drummer.
So I used the MG350/2x112T-V rig for the first time in a gig situation last night and she handled herself quite admirably. First thing’s first though; I LOVE the convenience of this setup. Especially with the amp cradle. Grab and go with one in each hand.
The sound, as expected, was more aggressive in the mids which I tamed with a few tweaks of the EQ to put me back into the sonic space I prefer. I found out during sound check that I can NOT have anything sitting on top of the head due to vibration. My iPad took a leap off of it which has never happened with either the NC-212 or the BA setup.
The main point is it was more than enough for a large room/six piece band. I personally will have to think about whether the convenience is enough of a draw to keep it out gigging versus going back to being my practice setup and using my MG800/NC212 for the indoor stuff. Again, it’s good to have options!

My jazz quartet, frequently, has to set up in a space about the size of the carpet the singer/guitarist is standing on... But at least we don't get paid much....

I’m blessed to have fallen in with this group and we’re fortunate to play some really nice rooms. While it can be a bit hit and miss, last night we got a really good crowd out.
But memories of playing places like this are always lurking just beneath the surface!

That's the truth! I remember playing two sold out nights at the Fox Theater in Boulder and then going up to Lincoln, Nebraska and playing to a room only populated by the bartender, the waitress (who got sent home early) and a friend of ours who had a legal obligation not to leave Lincoln. Ours is a profession that goes from the sublime to the ridiculous in a matter of a day.
