Hi Guys,

Would like to seek for your opinion on the Genzler Bass Array 10-2 vs 12-3. I would like to pair either with the Magellan 350.

I like a clear, transparent tone with deep, tight low end that sounds great at both low and high volumes. I play all kinds of genres ranging from rock, pop, ska, jazz. Probably with the exception of metal/heavy metal.

Which would you recommend for predominantly home studio/practice use? Also, what are the main differences in tonal characteristic between the two cabs when paired with the Magellan 350?

You'll be happier with the larger cabinet as you will get deeper lows out of it and the cabinet can be pushed harder.

Stage volume means a lot where the single 10 is concerned. Personally, I have used the 350 combo (10-2) with and without an additional 12-3 cabinet. I much prefer the additional 12-3 under the 10. So with that in mind my opinion would be to go for the larger cabinet. Then, whenever you play live you'll be better prepared.

Or, get the combo, and then eventually add a 12-3, that pairing works well, IMO.

I just picked up the 350/10-2 and it is great for home use but also did very well in a moderately loud rehearsal - and the carry was SUPER easy down to the basement rehearsal space. I did try just the combo at a slightly louder than moderate gig (3-piece classic rock) as a test and found it was almost but not quite enough - fortunately I had brought my NC210 as an extension cab and that pairing handled it. For the home/rehearsal situation I'd recommend the combo for the capabilities and ease of transport but if you ever get into a gig situation you may want to plan to have an extra cab like the 12-3 or at least another 10-2 available.

I have a second hand ba2 115-3SLT on the way! I first tried a Magellan 800 and BA10-3 close to 7 years ago.

I want to add a 210-3. How many of you run two slant cabs? I have seen some posts saying the head can slide down a 12 deg slope. Seems like a bracket fixed to the amp feet and over the cabinet top would hold just fine.

I’m sure you’ll love it, I have one and wish I had a second. Tool drawer liner from your local hardware store will keep the amp from sliding. It is cheap and effective. I also use the liner between cabinets as an insurance policy and because I had a bunch leftover.

Good ole tool drawer liner. As you say, cheap and effective. Harbor Freight is my friend.

You won’t need it. No issues with the head sliding with 2 SLT cabs.

Hey y’all….thoughts and opinions needed. I have a long time amigo out in So Cal that has a Fearless F115 cab and I’ve got him looking into the MG800. His worry is will he have enough juice to really drive that cab if necessary….I said it should push that cab easy enough but since I’ve never used one, who knows. I have heard they get plenty loud but I also told him I thought if he wanted to get super loud etc. he would be better off adding more speaker area than trying to get a lot of watts to try and push the single 15. Thanks y’all…many of you know much more than I!

Assuming that is a 4 ohm cab there would be 800 watts into that box, and that's plenty of volume. Not sure what he's looking for to 'really drive that cab if necessary' but the Magellan 800 is plenty powerful.

I am using the MG-800 into a Fearless F112 (8 ohm) and it can get quite loud.

I’ve yet to bump against that mythical level as well. Usually, when the rig is bouncing, our singer turns around and smiles.

I play my Magellan 800 through a audiokinesis hathor 112 which has a 3” paper mid driver and also an audiokinesis thunderchild 112 with a mid horn, both 8 ohms, and they both can get very loud. I’ve no doubt it will be able to push the fearless with no sweat.

It'll push it as well as anything else he could plug into it...

It's an 8 ohm cab but it'll be getting potentially 400 watts which is likely more than enough. I went on the fearless site and there really isn't a whole lot there with regards to specs outside of which drivers are being used and dimensions - was hoping for some db specs...

I run two BA210-3SLT occasionally. I’ve used my MG800 on top and no sliding at all, but just to be safe, I now put a single layer of black Gorilla shelf liner under the head. It is very secure.

Who here runs a BA210-3 as their single cab? I've toyed with swapping my BA15-3 for one. I went from the 350 combo to the 800 and 15-3. I do like punch. Couldn't do both as it is overkill and my gigs are IEM only. I may do occasional live gigs with amp in the future.

Not the 210, but I use my single 12-3 with my Mag 800 head all the time for lower volume gigs. Only pair it with my 410 for outdoor gigs. Without hesitation.
