Question for MG350 combo owners: has anyone commissioned a slip cover for amp/cab, with handle cutout? Most of my gigs are local and i don't really need to use the factory carrying bag (read: lazy). I'll have LeCover or somebody make one up, but thought i'd ask first to see if someone has already done this.

NAD: Finally got my Magellan 800. It is sweet and only played with the settings for about 5 mins before I had my tone dialled in. Kind of a Trace Elliot meets some low mids. Very pleased!

Now to sell off the Trace...

I have no problems with the performance of the 12-3 and my low B...

For a single 12' cabinet the BA12-3 Array is flat our thunderous in the low end and handles the B string as good as any cabinet I've ever used.

Let me know what you figure out. The bag is really strangely designed. I'm still getting used to it. Planning on doing a review here of it once I've used it on a couple more gigs.

I would love it to go down deep,,,,We have EQ to roll off lows if needed..

We have EQ to roll off the highs too!

The bass array cabs are not lacking in bottom end, IMO. Are the Magellan cabs thicker in the low end?

Magellan Cabs a full range and FULL. Goes down deep too..

But there is another amp maker that thinks they need to HPF everything. And do all sorts of pre tweaking for the end user..

I come from using my old API or Neve clone pre into a crown poweramp... Those let the end user tailors the tone...

I can just imagine a Genzler 115 cab Array... Although I am aware that Driver size does NOT mean a cab will have more lows etc.
I was on a gig last week in Scottsdale AZ @ Musical Instrument Museum where we had a Meyer PA Rig and Meyer floor wedges. The Floor wedges had 8" speakers.. The Low end was amazing.. They do use DSP though...The drummer needed a sub under teh 8" though// Physics is physics..!

But i will tell you my dream would be a 115 cab that;s PHAT sounding while being tight.., punchy, throaty, growly, with a smooth transition to 8k ..
Im not sure how they deaden down the Meyer cabs.. But if you tap on the speaker cone, there is NO Boooing Boing sound. .Its Thump Thump tight but deep thump thump.. A Bass Array 115 would be very cool

Just scored on a Magellan 800, really looking forward to getting it all hot and sweaty!

I'm gonna be pairing it with an old school SWR Goliath Senior 6x10. Anyone running this setup? I know it's a long shot, as these cabs are getting few and far between. Just curious, though.

That description makes me think of my pair of BA12-3's to be honest.

I was thinking you meant the Magellan cabs went deeper than the Arrays? I don't have had the pleasure to play with the MG cabs.

I think the arrays and magellan cabs have a very similar low end, the magellan seems to have punchier mids to my ear though, when i rolled back to the rear pickup, the magellan really barked more than the array, which was smoother it seemed.

Same low end. Magellan has thicker, more bass cab like mods that can punch through a mix when eq'd in. The array mids and top are way more smooth and even. I've played bo5h but, not gigged the array. The magellan cabs are more my sound but, I'd like to try the ba210 cabs.

Besides, Im happy with my MG212.. Its been on tour with me this summer. Its all that i need. I was talking about wishlist for Genzler products..

Kirk - you want to know how they achieve the performance of those Meyer cabinets? Meyer was probably THE pioneer in the development and application of high pass filters in pro audio.

Surprising as it might be. it is a fundamental and integral part of their product lineage.

(I have used and serviced Meyer products since the 1980's)

Funny you mention this. I had a Baer ML115 and it is very much that described tone. The fact that the BA12-3, especially a stack of them, is so very similar in tone to the ML115 is what made it easy for me to make the swap.

Why did I make the swap? I wanted a 4 ohm rig, and the modularity of the two twelves to produce a 4 ohm rig vs 2 ML115s was simply too much to pass up. Of course I also have an affinity for the fine products produced by Mr. Genzler. Having said that, I really loved the ML115 and thought it was a truly fine cabinet. I think Roger is great guy as well. But I couldn't afford to keep both and those Genzlers are just so awesome for their size, weight and footprint.

Sounds like the Magellan cabs are cut from the same cloth as the GB Neox/NX2 cabs....which are superb boxes IMHO.

Using just the Contour B at 10:00 and Drive Gain at 12:00 gives a great sound to my Country Western thumpin'.
I was not a fan of having the Drive, but it is not a distortion like other amps, unless full on, even then it is different. It puts in a bit of something that gives a nice uppercut to my below the belt thumpin'. I am no good at describing it, but it was fun.
