Get a haircut hippy!

Don't cut it. Just wash it in real hot water and it'll shrink.

I tried the hair thing, and it didn't really work for me. Buzzed it down with a number 3 guard, and it was the most liberating thing I've ever done.

Eh, my hair isn't waste length. Must have gotten me confused with one of the replies. My hair made it down well past my shoulderblades a couple of years ago and just quit growing. so that's where I'm at. And although I don't have a skullet, I do have a high forehead, so my ponytail comes off as sort Hugo Weaving/Elrond-ish.

I've actually grown my hair out twice in my life. Once when I was in high school, for some reason it just looked all greasy and nasty, and I ended up cutting it for a job back then too(Wal Mart), didn't get the damned job! My senior year I started growing it out again and that's how it's been. Most of the people I knew back then are now married with normal jobs and lives and go to church, etc. I'm still the same guy. I think the hair might actually be on it's way out, i just hope the rest doesn't go the way of the classmates! I'm not digging the yuppie-suburban lifestyle. Hopefully the tats will keep me in check.

Oh, I don't own a digital camera, so I doubt you'll see any before pics. I might be able to dig up some older photos and scan em, I basically look the same, hair hasn't changed color or grown much. I still wouldn't hold out much hope for that, I'm a notorious photophobe. Not sure why that is. I know the pics exist, mostly of me drunk, but getting my hands on them might be a different story.

Do not do it! Im being freaking serious! Do you realize how unfair and ridicolous job interviewers are? They think your iresponsible cuz you got long hair whatever. Long hair is awesome, long hair is a way of freedom, the girls love it, you can mosh to it, you stand out a bit more. Id never cut my hair for anyone and you should either!

Just cut your damn hair.

Get a job, then if you want to grow it back you can.

Its not that big a deal, and in the mean time you'll probably find you LIKE having shorter hair.

Its not that complex.

The whole "don't give in to society" thing is nice when you're about 16, but sometimes you have to man up and do what has to be done.

The high forehead/balding/long hair thing is lame anyway.

Its hard to imagine how long hair could be a hazard in the office, unless the hair gets sucked into a papper shredder or fax machine. I have long hair to, maybe not as long as yours, but still i know the discrimination that can be dished out. Being 18yo I dont know what its like trying to get a coporate job, probaly never will because that shizzle would bore the hell out of me. If its a matter of life or death in terms of money, i would say chop it back to shoulder length or something.

Hair is 100% replaceable. Right now you're a product that you're trying to sell to a prospective boss. Make the product as attractive as possible!!!!!! I'd cut it without a second thought.

Those who spend their time arguing about their hair and their rights and how they shouldn't have to cut it often can be detected by their expertise with one specific phrase: "Would you like fries with that?"

Unless that's the job you want, cut it. You could always shave it and go with the Mr. Clean/Bruce Willis look.

Those of you who say "Cut it, it will grow back.", do you have any idea how long it takes hair to grow long? Nevermind the "Awkward Stage", which I am almost at. If you like your hair long, why cut it? I understand why you would cut it, and if it's what you want to do, do it. Making a decent living is more important than having long hair and looking "metal" or whatever. I imagine the sleeves will be much more of a problem than the hair.

I would NEVER cut my hair for a job. I know I'm highly employable, no matter what my hair is like, what clothes I wear or whatever - my skills speak far more volume than my appearance. I've never had trouble getting a job. Your interview technique and self-confidence will tell your interviewers far more about you than your haircut, take it from me.

A friend of mine back in the UK got told to cut his hair to get a job at PC World (big computer store chain) - he threatened to sue them for sexism in their hiring policy (in as far as they'd never ask a woman to cut her hair for a job) and they relented. Now the place is full of long-haired people. :D
