Get a haircut hippy!

It's funny to me that this is still an issue. People can't get over hair... that's insane.

It's the south. The gotta descriminate against somebody. :)

Seriously, just because we grow up doesn't mean we have to lie down and accept the fact that other people are going to dictate how we live for the rest of our lives. Cutting my hair has nothing to do with 'being a man'. The only way I've been able to keep it for this long is by performing hard labor or difficult jobs that none of the yuppies will have. Only now that I want to start making more than 12$/hr have I realized that this is next to impossible to do without some sort of specialized education(computers, why didn't I just finish college?), that would make me a commodity.

Oh no, I'm drifting.

Oh yeah, my hairline isn't receding, it's just a hairline. Always been high. I believe the term is 'widows peak'. My bro has the same thing, he went with the whole semper fi cut a few years ago and looks like a dufus. This is what I'm dealing with now, forget about the 'statement'.

Vanity is a horrible thing.

Reading this thread has made me cranky and bitter. My hair has been kept at about a number 4 guard length for about twenty years because my only options for hair-dos are that and shaved, and my wife won't touch me if I shave it.

Going bald at twentyone sucks rocks. I probably would have just had the 'thinning' hair that you can deny is baldness approaching for a year or two, but the Navy shaved my head and it never came back.

So to everyone saying "Don't worry. Cut it. It'll grow back." Maybe. Maybe not. To everyone saying "It's just hair. Get over it." That is true, but he'll miss it for the rest of his life if he cuts it for the job now and then has bad hair forever. For the people suggesting Locks of Love: I support this idea. You'll be gladder about cutting your hair if you know that it is going to someone who doesn't have any due to illness. One of my patients and her sister both had hair past their waists and donated it to Locks of Love shortly before she started her chemo. She got her own hair back in her wig. That was awesome.

To Thumblypeg: The sleeves are going to keep you from getting a good job anyway. So go ahead and keep the hair while you can but just know you'll always be poor and get used to it. Since you're essentially unemployable anyway, why not just try to be as happy with yourself as you can. So you're making $11.50 an hour out in the sun getting a backache. That's what you chose when you decided to be an individual with your long hair and tattoos. So congratulations. You got what you didn't know you were asking for.

Ahhh, the fashion police are here.

Quick, hide the parachute pants!

This does not affect my decision in the least.

But out of curiousity, when are crew cuts gonna go out of style?

I'm not even going to try and keep up with haircut trends, I'll leave that to the metrosexuals. I just needed some thoughtful advice, which I did recieve in this thread, thanks for those who contributed.

Decision is made, much to the dismay of my girlfriend

Problem is, the Yellow Pages for Hair Dressers(*cringe*) is like 5 pages long!

EDIT: heh, I just realized, jsbass, that you're 22.
thanks for the input anyway.

I think it's time to start confiscating man cards.

It's not against man law to have long hair, but it is against man law to talk about hair. Unless it's regarding bridles braided from horse hair or some cowboy crap like that.

Don't make Maki use his drunk-tripping skillz on you.

Man Law 189: Men who follow the Man Law's shall not discuss length of hair outside Metal Headbanging context. Even then, discussion is subject to loss of holder's card, and in severe cases, loss of macho stature.
Man Law 189a: If length of hair is questioned by a female, one must respond with "Hm...I'm not sure." This acts as an ice breaker to get her back to your place.
Man Law 189b: If Length of hair is questioned by a male, one must respond with "Um...what?"
189c. Discussions of hair shall not cover "style," maintenance, or the use of any "product" with regards to said hair.

:hmm:

So, you think I should cut it?

Or....no?
