God what a turnip-head the seller is. I just Googled "Squier jazz bass fretless" and came up with dozens of references showing it's a $300 bass. I think the seller must have been looking at USA or CIJ Fenders.

Squier (not Squire) is the lower cost version from Fender. I doubt you "researched extensively" if you can't even spell it correctly.
