People in the old days came down with things ... ague, scrivener's palsy, chilbllains, variola, bad blood, fatty liver, lumbago ....

Black dog was depression. Some are still used today such as change of life and lumbago as you mentioned.

Most kids used to have their tonsils removed, I still have mine. It’s still done today, perhaps to a lesser extent.

Mr. @/\/\3phist0, long time no see! How blows the sails in your parts sir?
Y'all's so entertaining, I just have been lurking this thread, active elsewhere in this vast forum on a daily basis.
Still grumpy with working for an MSP, where due to my team support skills they need me to drive an hour and a half to sit at a computer ... To fix computers remotely. Go figger?!
Grumble..
Course my boss is just now 30...
Grumble.
But beautiful home, beautiful partner in crime, happy with the band.
Love my rig, thanks @agedhorse
Love my basses (thanks Leo)
Hate that as of yesterday, wearing a partial to replace molars .....
Grumble.

:)

Yep, not only have these meanlenials, or whatever you call them, come up with their fancy names for common ailments, they have made up the same kind of names for new wonder drugs to cure them. They pick on us older folks with a barrage of ads telling us how wonderful these drugs are, only to follow with the bad things that can happen if you take them.

Back in my day, pot was illegal...now it's fine. Now they want to ban steam but its OK buy cigarettes. Heck, you now can't just walk into a store and pick up glue or spray paint. They have made these controlled substances. You need ID before they unlock the cabinets...no wonder we are grumpy...now, where did I leave my coffee...

But, the ice cream!!!

Yes, lots of screaming, I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. It wasn’t enough to entice me to have them cut on me.

Back then, when kids were in the hospital and they needed their temperature taken, nurses insisted on using rectal thermometers. They didn’t tell them about it before they went into the hospital. Even if a kid used the oral one at home, they weren’t allowed. That resulted in more screaming. But the kid network on the block spread the word.

The experience didn’t make up for having ice cream. Now they use infrared thermometers. Much less embarrassing. But the kids still get ice cream.

At the age I was at, at the time, I didn't have much of a choice.

For some, life lessons start at an eary age.

Uhhhh..........
Anyone know anything about this?
Why is the T-Bird Club closed?
There were several bass comments literally minutes before some guy says to talk about Thunderbirds, and then he LOCKED THE THREAD!?!?
I am a supporting member of TalkBASS, and spend most of my time on the Thunderbird Club Site.

THIS ACTION IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Open the club forum back, or you WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER DOLLAR FROM ME!!!
