You and your sister are quite artistically bent. I think the footrest will brighten your bass. ;)

Very nice quilt! The foot rest looks as it should look, viz, functional. I hope having a rested foot cures, or at least, ameliorates, what ails ya.

Vis a vis HPF order: I am a gross empiricist.

According to Dad (Dictionary of Audio Dysfunction): A simple cab sim can have EQ and, because speakers are limited in both the high and low end, a bandpass filter. A bandpass is both a high and low pass but a separate HPF as still desirable because it can be positioned before the speaker sim in the chain, set above the lower limit of the speaker sim, and it can be a better filter.

Experimenting with the flow is always good. You never know what will provide a desirable tone till you try it.

What I also came to believe from reading the graphs for the VT Bass is the cab sim has a very steep drop off at 5khz and a much more modest profile below 50 (?) hz. What one believes and what is actually there may or may not intersect. And in the belief that seeing what is really there is a better deal, I'm totally agreeable to looking at all this technical stuff in a technical way.

What I believe I'm hearing is a HPF/LPF in a single pedal will do a better job. And I put the HPF in front of the VT Bass because I see a practical need for the DI on that pedal. And (for reasons thoroughly thrashed here and abouts) HPF -> DI is more important than "no milk crates".

Talking of Postie poorness....

We live at the end of a 1/2 mile dirt track with a short but steep final drop to our house....

This afternoon our "poor old postie".....A wonderful, ever cheerful lady, even while she was stuck in her little truck thingy for over an hour,....made the mistake of being kind and decided to deliver to the door rather than leave the dreaded card in the box up by the main road.....

Could NOT get up the slope!.....Would NOT give up!!!.....What a driver!.....I'd have made it in me AWD but she was in one of these!.....

Rear wheel drive....NO tread to speak of on the tires and so help me she got the bloody thing out.....:hyper:...

I'm waffling...sorry, just so impressed....:thumbsup:

EDIT: Forgot to say why she got stuck...Ice....

It isn’t unusual that a speaker sim would have a different slope on the filters. On the high end filter, a sharp drop is good because you can set it just below the noise. High frequency noise can be irritating.

My mantra is, every complexity added to the signal path takes away from the tone. Often, the simpler the signal pathway, the better the sound. One reason why I like the Ampeg B-15. Not that I don’t use other amps. In general, I don’t keep anything in the signal chain that I don’t need. Digital effects are different. I use an Eventide thingy that can chain together different patches and the signal isn’t degraded.

I don’t use a LPF for bass. That’s just me tough. I like to keep whatever harmonics the amp produces and adding a LPF can reduce them. Perhaps I’d want to use a LPF in some cases if I didn’t use flats exclusively. I do use low pass filters in the mix on other tracks though.

But a lot of people find a combo HPF/LPF unit very useful.
