Walking poles always seemed to me the sort of thing to take on a lunch hike.
Not all neighbors shovel their walk in a timely way. There is one in particular. It's a small set of flats, maybe two or three, and the owner (wherever he is) never clears the walk. Only this summer did he finally replace one concrete walk bit (whatever these things are called) that was broken and down to gravel. Good chance the city forced the landlord do that.
Took a fall three weeks ago an hour or so after the doctor injected my foot/ankle with cortisone. A step down that's longer than expected is always a surprise. Knowing
how to fall is an art in of itself. Do it enough and you get good at it.
What's consistent is the old saw: [Someone We Know] fell and broke [third person pronoun] hip. The actual sequence of events is a weak hip breaks and then the fall because that's how bodies work. Bones and muscles work together
