I'm a line needer too and for exactly the same reasons.....
I'm already getting weary of "Not a proper blah blah...."......
Stuff the "Negative vibes players on this site"....
We seem to have managed to achieve a nice, comfy place to hang out here though.....

Play your bass with a non Fender pick if you want to, held in any way that you like, with any THING that you like and at any time you like!.....

To me, gold silks was Dean Markley Super Rounds. Looked sharp. Bummed enough when Dean Markley stopped the silks to look for other brands. What i believe I recall is the Super Rounds lasted a very long time compared to the Rotos "everyone" used. I loved 'em. For a couple hours.
My taste in strings aren't the same here in the future.
The black cherry silks on the Low Tension Flats would look pretty sharp against a white headstock.
