Last night , I reached the end of an era for me. Well , sort of. I mean , probably not completely , but mostly. (Dang it Sharky , quit your darn blithering and get to the point.) This was one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make in a while. Staring over the precipice into something unknown for me. Any way , last night , I finally retired my faithful servant of over 16 years. He had severe limitations and wasn't even slightly technologically capable. He couldn't use a camera or a map and had not even the slightest clue what the internet was. He couldn't understand simple conversation and had to have every command individually inputted into him. Sometimes I would have to hit him in the same spot 4 or 5 times just to make a point. Even with all of his limitations , I will miss him dearly. He had accompanied me on all my travels. He went with me to all my construction sites and weathered all of the pit falls involved there. Falls , drops and being laid on when he couldn't get out of the way. He survived baking sun , freezing rain and even being dropped into wet concrete. He was so old that absolutely NO information could be retrieved from him. Yes , last night , I finally retired my trusty old flip phone.
So I have entered a new age now. I can take pictures , videos , access maps and even the internet in addition to making calls and texts. So what incredible piece of modern technology did I replace him with. Another flip phone. This dinosaur isn't extinct just yet. Besides , since I'm still working construction , I need something that will fit in a pocket and cant be destroyed by a ham handed plumber.
