It's my penultimate roots day (until I change my mind).
To say I use henna is a disservice to my alchemist. She creates with horsetail, yellow dock, burdock, cassia obovata, cassia, marshmallow root, aloe, chamomile, hibiscus, nettle, herbs, and henna. Which is now on my hair for the next three hours.
Penultimate because I have one application remaining. And decided from there I grow out the gray. I'm 64, I bloody well earned this gray. To talk to my joints, I"m way older than 64. To talk to me, well, feeling barely out of teens except for the year we all agree upon as now is a long way from 1964. At least I wasn't 64 in 64, I would have missed the best years of my life!
Will continue my days-to-myself with only a mixture of cassia obovata, so keeping my alchemist in business.

... and also ... don't buy henna in the box in the grocery isle at the corner shop. Duh. And she makes henna sound awful. It's really wonderful as I make it a day for me. I add essential oils (white and pink lotus) and a drop or two of vibrational remedy. It's a day to myself, a ritual.

We had a little wooden laughing Buddha, and as a child learned rubbing his bald head and fat tummy were good luck. (Forgot that until now)
The Ho Tai used to be the thing in Chinese restaurants until the lucky evil waving cat usurped them.

As a youngster in the '50s I thought my grammaw's cat clock was evilly watching all in her kitchen. Kept me from stealing quite so many cookies.

Of the 300+ clocks that I have, that is not one of them.
I had to go dark with my hair after accidentally over-processing it last year. My real hair is an uneven mix of white, gray, and mousy brown, so there is no way I can go either light, dark or medium and have it grow out from there with decent looking roots. Right now I have about a half-inch of pure white where I've got a skunk stripe in the middle of my head, and I want to go lighter again, because that would be less noticeable if I were still blond. But in order to do that, I first have to dye dark and then begin the lightening process immediately; otherwise the contrasting roots don't go away, they just go yellow. Ah, the fun of being an older woman. I would love to just let it grow out but I know that in the genres of music I most often play it would not be a good look

^ this is a very good point.
Was intentionally careless with the henna today and treated all my hair instead of just the roots. Now the roots are strawberry blonde (the "I'm 21 inside" feeling) and looks like the length is red and redder. My mother had red hair down to her bum, so. But she was not 64, either.
There's a Portuguese ladies hair salon that has the window sill covered in waving crabs. It must be a cultural thing. Wouldn't want crabs.

I first noticed the waving cats in Japanese restaurants in the early 80s. "Money coming in" was the meaning I was given when I asked what's with the waving cat. Then I noticed the waving cats got bigger and more numerous. That would coincide with the decline of laughing Buddha figures.
And more money coming in...
A family member had a kit-cat clock. I thought that it was way cool.
