I don't even know the secret words and I'm already skeered of getting whacked!
@Al Kraft how are ya?

Boy Oh! That's the one that always got my attention. "Watch it Boy Oh". I knew I was in for it then. Now I have been cussed out in many languages in my life, goes with the uniform. But when I was cussed out in Gaelic I did not understand one word that was said but I was certain I messed up royally.

Well I have to get ready. I have the honor to attend a forum featuring Henry St. Clair Fredericks and Kevin Moore. I will think of you all. Have a great night!
Bob

What a wonderful forum. Not much music but let's of Blues history. It was put on by the Music Department at UNR (University of Nevada Reno) and to clear everything up it was hosted by Taj Mahal and Keb 'Mo. They did 3 acoustic pieces in the very beginning and the rest was all history and discussions. Phenomenal! Sometimes it is great to see musicians in a different light. Definitely if given the chance I will do this again. I recommend if you are given the chance do the same.

Thy look like such nice, clean cut young men. I bet they're on their way to chaperone at the church picnic.

There are people out there who swear you can clean up an old record by coating it in wood glue, letting it dry, and peeling it off.

It seemed to work for this guy.

This, being the internet, is the place where Lotsa guys swear to Lotsa things...:)

You, first! ;)

The number of people who can read stenography is few. That was highlighted in a low priority news item about a madam's interview taken in steno that can't be decyphered. Not everyone learned Greg. Newspaper reporters often invented their own steno out of necessity. I myself found myself surprised in my role as a reporter that any could read my notes.

Speed and accuracy were once critical components of the craft. Once it was a craft, and a blue collar craft at that. It's the reporters who are crawling through city records. If they do that any more.

Wow...what an interesting life you have had

(repeating a story)

the finest reporter I ever met entered journalism from her job as a PI in Detroit. She won that job over a game of pool.

Takes a certain tenacity to hold a story to its end. Actual investigative reporting is expensive.

Standard reporter issue notebooks are/were slender. Every reporter at every newspaper I ever saw had boxes of those notebooks, kept in apparent perpetuity in the event of legal stuff. The bulk of what's in there are names spelled correctly, quotations accurately recorded, and of course anything to assist recall. Wherever you've been doesn't matter when you're sitting at a desk banging out copy to your editor's spec. Seven, eight stories on deadline is when the newsroom is running full tilt. Go home, come back and do it again.

A reporter who is <ahem> promoted to editor, I imagine is very much like an enlisted man being promoted to officer rank. Folks who were friendly may not be so friendly now, and folks who used to be pretty unfriendly are friendly. Editors who are friendly with the folk in the composing room are probably on the endangered species list.

Leaving the editor's desk for other pursuits is another story. :woot:

Changing gears
My new Toyota has no CD player...I have to upload all my CDs to my old laptop..Load them onto a flash drive stick....plug that into my car USB and play my albums...but it is glitchy and slow to find the right album on the go...then it freezes for a while or keeps playing the same track...Grrrrr...I miss my CD player

Plus....my new laptop also does not have a CD burner...so I had to buy an external CD drive...Grrrr again

Does your external CD drive not work in your car?
