My last duty station(67-68)was Charleston Naval Shipyard(6 ND). The band had a Navy issue EB-3, probably a 66(?). First real bass I ever played. Bought one immediately after separation. Wish I still had it. Sold it 'cos it wasn't being played(I was using my THUNDERBIRD for everything). 6 weeks later, I needed a short scale.
Here ya go just for you. You can swing by anytime to play on it.

Nice! I had an Epi EB-3L for awhile. The thing neckdove like a submarine. Sold it.
Still do. You would think with all the electronics stuffed in that bottom end it wouldn't dive like that.

Hmm. Mine had the bridge cover on it. A little extra weight on the opposite end. I don't remember it diving. I used to double sax or flute while the keyboard man would cover the bass line. IIRC, it stayed put.

This one is under restoration. The Dimarzio is gone, replaced with a '69 Mudbucker. Pickguard replaced with a '69 NOS, and I am currently looking for a original ashtray bridge cover that doesn't cost $199 or more. The Pickguard was $125.

I worked for a bubbehead. He was mad.
An old high school friend had an EB-3L in the early '70s, but his said Gibson on the headstock, same as his Thunderbird IV. I've played them both, but have no recollection of their neck-dive worthiness.

I volunteered for sub duty but was rejected for being too tall and too near-sighted. I ended up as a sonar technician on a Destroyer so I kind of know from both bubblehead and skimmer viewpoints. By the way, all (US NAVY) bubbleheads are squids but not all squids are bubbleheads...
How about some Bobbleheads?
