A gag response was my first response as a sea urchin and quail's egg noob in 82. Which was when a sushi bar was a truly special experience. And blessed to cross paths with an old school sushi master who served the more subtle and refined aspects of the experience. There are manners to learn, there is protocol to be observed, there is an order of flavours and textures.
Got over the gag response on sea urchin and quail's egg![]()
A delicacy that's quite difficult to find. Could happen were I a regular at a decent sushi bar. Maybe. Good place for me, eat at the pace I like and in the quantity I like, and there is sake. Not to be confused with raki, which always makes me raise my eyebrows.
Really haven't seen a top sushi bar in a long, long time. Now it's sushi to-go at the supermarket. Some people live to eat and some people eat to live.![]()
Sorry. I have never eaten sushi and do not ever plan to either.

Up north in Michigan, we do have sushi restaurants. We just call them bait shops!
