I just so happen to be wearing a Tee Shirt with the Rascals, Grootna, and Grin on the front. From 1971. The shirt is a reprint, I haven't been wearing it for 50 years.

Yeah, actually, it feels very good. No buzz, I like the low tension. Still making my mind up about flats but at three months they're beginning to sound kind of nice. Nice enough for others to compliment the thump. Mon dieu the bass does thump with flats. Thump in the technical sense of a percussive attack and fast decay? I heard that here at TB. Plays very nicely.
I am reasonably sure I know what's behind the Green Door without looking. I hope it's not one of those quantum mechanics problems.
I did not realize Mort Drucker passed away yesterday. I had natural talent as an artist early on (unlike any natural musical ability) and considered a career in art. It was when I took an art class and was studying the "paint spilled on canvas" abstract art that I said "I'm out!". I studied Mort and Jack Davis' work and copied their styles into my caricatures. I also realized it would be difficult to make a living as a cartoonist and so I kept it as a hobby.
One of my prized possessions is an autographed copy of Mort's book.
I have an album of some of my sketches from over the years. One caricature is of Geddy Lee playing his bass.

When I set up my basses I just go by feel and playability; the only measurement may be string height at the last fret as a starting point.
Players are always second guessing these sort of things. Your bass is set up for a pretty low action. If it plays well enough, don't worry about it.
When people start looking at what numbers are good targets, you have to take into account the neck radius -- flatter radius (larger radius) allows for lower action, and the neck relief -- again less relief is allowable for a larger radius. With the relief is set, you can determine what the string action works best for you. Action is often set a little higher on the bass side.
If there is buzzing, it may not just be a matter of neck adjustment. I use a tool called a fret rocker to find any high frets (Fret Rocker | stewmac.com). Fixing a high fret can allow for less relief and lower action.
