Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Years ago on Wide World Of Sports, I recall an event where people would slide on a leather pad behind a car. They would wear a leather apron of sorts on their backside, hold on to a rear bumper while that car barreled down a racetrack, then let go. The winner was the one that slid the furthest. They’d never let that happen today.

Maybe if they had some of that special coating from Sparky in "Christmas Vacation".

The live music scene has slowly been sinking into obscurity. Bands playing for tips. Playing for nothing. Paying the bar to play. Playing a gig and the bar owner saying that the next gig would be at lesser payment. I feel that this virus thing will kill it for good unless we develop a powerful enough vaccine. I know that I won't risk going out to play till then.

Sports are in a similar situation. Basketball especially as the fans are so close to the players.

The world has changed and not in a good way. Concerts, movies, anything with an audience have been negatively affected. Stupid people are coming out of the woodwork. We had a demonstration outside our Provincial Legislature where a young guy was yelling into a microphone that the hospitals are empty. The Pandemic is a hoax and all restrictions should be removed. I find it sad as more and more of our Seniors pass because of this virus. Their carers are dropping one by one too.

Now that restrictions are being removed I hope and pray that we will be spared another wave of cases. I, for one, would not like to go through all this again!

Stay safe and healthy.

All clubs are closed out here, no live music at all. There WILL be a second and a third wave, they are now thinking this is going to be around for at least a few years until a vaccine is developed. I am in Peru where we are on just about complete lockdown, supermarkets and pharmacies are the only things open, no private cars, only one person can go out at a time, we have to wear masks, 6 ft personal space is mandatory, it's boring yes, but at least I'm away from the madness that is the US for the time being, the US has 4.4% of the world population but has 1/3 of the deaths from the coronavirus in the world. You play games out here they lock you up and give you a nice big fine. Per capita we have way WAY less deaths and cases out here than even my state of MA has and we have 6 times the population of MA. Be smart, stay in and ignore the morons who for the most part are fronts for conspiracy theorists of all shades.

Maybe this forced detox from live music will make people consider how often they wasted, or took for granted, the opportunity to see bands, and give them a renewed appreciation for live entertainment.
When things spin back up, it may reinvigorate the local scene.

I know, I know.....wishful thinking.
Well, one can always hope. ;)
Worst case scenario is that people after the virus stay home more and use online resources. The live music scene was going to the dumps before the virus anyway. Greed has killed a lot of good things about our country, live music being just one of the casualties.

Was this the (fill in the year) Summer Olympics that took place in Bango Bango, on the tiny island of Tamago?

I’m not what you call an athletic supporter. The olympic games, infrastructure, and financial support for the althletes are too much of a drain on the taxpayer. Tax burdens can run for decades in some cities. It isn’t what it used to be where some guy was working out in his garage. Politics and unfair advantages ruined it.

The olympic organizing committees in each country are about lavish parties, travel, and having way more money than they know what to do with. This is a place where politicians find high paying jobs for their supporters. It’s like the UN.

I say, let it be privately finded or not at all.

Off to the horse pistol this morning for my lady doctor appointment. They rang me Monday afternoon to say I should expect a queue to the newly-reopened wing of the tower. Expect to answer questions, and have my temperature taken, to gain admission to the building. But, she added <wink wink> if I use the main entrance there will be no queue because most of the traffic is to and from the tower.
