Things that go ping, all the modern conveniences. They have heart monitors with a network connection that pings the doctor, maybe soon we'll be able to self-ultrasound. People are using telemedicine more these days.

Imagine a time when instead of vaccinations, kids get a shot of nanoprobes that diagnose and repair all that is wrong throughout life. We will be humans with tiny medical robots within us.

I've already got a little robot in me that tells my heart when to beat. Have had for 23 years, ackshully.

My son-in-law's "little internal robot" not only tells his heart when to beat, but it can shock it back to life if it stops! Not sure if it emits an audible "CLEAR!" warning, or not, like the temporary vest did before his surgery. The joker used to like setting off the vest to get that audible "WARNING! STAND CLEAR!" announcement, then resetting it, as "the life of the party"! Thank goodness he can't do that with the internal version or he would have run the battery down several times by now! It hasn't stopped him smoking, though. :rollno:

Yeah, that's the kind I've had for the past 10 years. (Knock on wood, it's never fired.) It automatically communicates wirelessly to a bedside box that sends the docs info about my heart, how much longer the battery will last, etc. Then I get a bill for the copay. So they have at last figured out how to make money without having to see patients. Plus, I suppose I could be hacked by a couple of middle-school kids with a cell phone ("Dance, pilgrim"). :D On rare occasions my bass strap hits it in such a way that I'm painfully reminded it's there.

Being a Diabetic I can foresee a time when I'll have a lil' robot that continuously measures my sugar levels and emits enough insulin to bring it back to normal levels.

I do have a system that puts a small sensor on my arm that communicates to a receiver to allow a reading of my levels. I have yet to work up the courage to apply the sensor. I am getting ready to start on it.

10 years! :woot: And there I thought that kind was the latest, greatest, very rare kind when he got it a fews years ago. I was amazed that it didn't require something as big as a car battery to jump start a heart! :p But, I reckon pinpoint targeting internally makes up for gross amperage externally.

Live long and prosper, Charlie!

The sidesaddle version of the ExaM is for the colonoscopy :vomit:

Absolutely NO on the nanobots and that's non-negotiable until I know exactly the top level programming, and where it comes from. The chief problem with any nanobots that purport to reverse the effects of aging is who wants obscenely rich people to live to be 800 years old. I don't believe for a moment they are interested in anything but their own welfare. And certainly don't want their fingerprints (so to speak) on my medical futures.

Is that the Continuous Glucose Monitoring system, or CGM, Paul? It looks like those are great! Seeing the rising or falling trends of blood sugar is so much more informative than spot checks.

My Type 1 grandson is a couple years into qualification for a CGM and I can't imagine why he doesn't want it!?! For a young kid who hated needles, he's become fairly comfortable with the cannulus removal & reinstall every few days for his insulin pump (even does it himself) and the several finger sticks per day to calculate each bolus, and the nightly Levomir injections so he can remove the pump to sleep.. But the second cannulus with the CGM, and the occasional leaks that come with those, is where he draws the line.

He says he wants a complete artificial pancreas to monitor glucose and inject insulin automatically, which the 'net keeps saying is just about here. 'Till then, he's learned to live with his current situation.

NEWS FLASH 2056

VIRUS INFECTED NANOBOTS EVOLVE AND FORM COLLECTIVE WITH THE GOAL OF HOLDING HOSTS HOSTAGE.

We just know this will happen on those timelines, given what we've seen since the first computer hacks. And not to mention the rise of anti-nanobot software like Norton for Large Mammals, and McAffee for Sentient Beings. All of whom engineer it with multiple backdoors for friendly government agencies.

In simpler times we keep patent medicine on hand, just in case Great Aunt Emma is stricken by the ague again.

LaContessa not to be a nit or anything but no one in the colonies know what ague, is.
Lol

Is that a 'finger-style' nit or a 'pick' nit?:smug:
