I can't tell if he's Asian or Irish. With B&W image, I can't tell if his hornet mask is green.

You are kinda close. The one on the left is the Green Hornet (played by Van Williams) and the one on the right is Kato (played by Bruce Lee). Yes. The mask is green. The sad thing is I knew this without looking it up. :woot:

And one of he best parts was Al Hirt's rendition of Flight of the Bumblebee, one of the coolest trumpet tunes ever! It was the cover of his album of TV show themes.

I was a trumpet player when i was a kid and the school got me a private lesson teacher. He used to use Al Hirt as an example of a player with a great big fat tone and he was correct, I've always loved this tune:

My father smoked for 70 years and died basically from emphysema last year, he would still occasionally ask for a cigarette while he was in hospice at home (I took care of him), "No Dad you quit 6 months ago" Oh yeah...... I am very happy I quit 30 years ago, I quit and started enough times to know that the first drag gets me everytime (one is too many one thousand's not enough). The only time I ever get any desire at all is when I see a pack of Lucky Strike unfiltered

I quit ~50 years ago when the price went up to $.35/pack in the base vending machines. The problem is I substituted double bags of potato chips* for the smokes.

*or crisps for some of y'all

That was a mistake, I hadn't finished the post and tried to delete it when I had to leave the house but surprise surprise! I did anything to stop, walked, ate anything in front of me, exercized, I made up my mind i was not going to start again no matter what and to this day I haven't had even a drag...because i know what will happen.

And this was Chet Baker on a good night, he went on methadone for this Japanese tour because the drug laws were so strict in Japan at that time and he played better than he had in years. It's a long one but the playing is impeccable, excellent bass solo, piano etc. and his trumpet solo is beautiful. The trumpet solo starts at about 7:30 but the whole song is really nice. being Chet he hits a couple of clinkers early on but he builds his solo so nicely. Another thing I like about him is he played entirely by ear, was only a rudimentary reader, probably couldn't sight read.

And this is the coolest trumpet video I've ever seen, this guy fascinates me, not one of his better performances but just the whole black and white atmosphere is really something, you can't can't anymore jazz than this. It was done in Paris.

That was beautiful. A combination of Film Noir and combo jazz. Thanks!

There was a time when most people smoked. It was glorified in the movies and print. Old radio used to run commercials saying that more doctors smoked Camel cigarettes. There was big money behind getting everyone addicted. It sickens me when I see young kids out on the street smoking. They know better.

Ever notice how often in movies someone would offer someone else a cigarette?

That and booze.

Natives were passing the peace pipes long before the hippies. Walter Raleigh did his best to popularize tobacco in England, brought back from the colony of Virginia. John Lennon cursed Sir Walter Raleigh in I'm So Tired, he was such a stupid git.

Shirley Temple getting high.
