That's it, I'm going to start smoking again!

In another age, I took a bass audition in Las Vegas. Mid-audition, two showgirls came offstage from their shift. The very first thing they did (before, presumably, eating three sad carrots for dinner) was measure their waists. And that was enough to close the deal, because I knew exactly then (thanks ladies!) I don't want to work here.

Well to tell you the truth a couple of them were kind of on the skinny side.;)

Somehow, I do not think you are. There is enough going on here that would convince me otherwise.

Personally, I look at smoking as a reason why I am here with COPD. I am here because I quit. I was late. I contracted pneumonia because I was too stupid to realize that this could killing me.

I am a bit smarter now. Only because I am still alive.

For those of you who think your are invisible, you are not. You need to look at the stats.

People die with this. That is all I can say.

Please, stay healthy.

Jim

No I was joking and I just took care of my father who passed away at 90 of Emphysema from smoking. He smoked for 70 years and was on hospice, O2, morphine, Ativan, the whole bit and every once in a while he'd ask for a cigarette and I'd say "no dad you quit" "Oh yeah, I forgot" He forgot my #$#$.

Do Yous gots any more room on the plate of Jaysuskristeonabicycle?!!

I understand and hope all of you do as well.

Thank you @bobyoung53, this is a sad story, but needs to be said.

I quit smoking and it was 20 years ago to the day on March 11, 2020. It was, hands down, the hardest thing I ever did. I was up to 2.5 packs a day when I quit; my mother, who died of complications from COPD, was smoking more than a carton a day when she went into the hospital for the last time, so I certainly had a genetic inclination to become highly addicted and it didn't go unnoticed when I gave it up. But give it up I did, and I lived to tell the tale.

Yes, it was a very different world back in the day. We could smoke in theaters, in airplanes, in restaurants, in stores... I remember going into one store and being admonished that I could only smoke in the tiled areas, not in the carpeted ones. I was one that had to have a cigarette after a meal and I'd smoke it at the table and I didn't care what dirty looks I got.

Man, times have changed, and so have I.
